Once again a spectacular group dance ruined by the whooping of the audience, why does the director have the "whooping" brief?

I very much doubt they'd reinstate Melvin but you're right that they're lucky it was him in the bottom 2. Can you imagine the outcry if say Laura or Judge Rinder had been booted out for an injured person? To be honest I suspect if it had been a favourite they would eliminated Anastacia instead.

I guess us discussing it proves why it took so long for the producers to decide on a solution!

The nature of the injury that she tore her scar tissue is pretty nasty, I totally understand her not doing it again, and she should have ballroom next week which should be a bit less intense so right decision made for me.

At the beginning of the show Tess was still talking about there being a dance off?

Guessing at that point they still thought they'd be one?

Why on earth did Anastacia not miss the results show due to ill health or did she think that their was no way she would be in the bottom two

Perhaps because it takes place an hour after the main show? Nobody - not even remote tribes in the Patagonian rainforest - believe that the results show takes place the following day.

So surely she should have given up? It should have been her going, but looking at their faces they thought she would be through. She could be voted off next week if people think it unfair

I would not be at all surprised if there is an announcement at the start of the week, that she is being forced to withdraw. Purely speculation on my part, of course.

It's a shame as I think she is very entertaining and could well have made some real improvement.”

It's very obvious you are not, an incisional hernia is even easier to diagnose.

No she hurt herself where her scar tissue is in her shoulder, no hernia and there never was any possibility of one.

Poor Anastacia people diagnosing things for her and talking about her Chrohns disease.

As anyone who has a chronic illness knows anything can happen, however the minute you start limiting what you think they can do, you are the person disabling them.

With obvious limitations eg not letting a person who has frequent fits drive a bus, it is important to let the person with the illness decide what they are capable of doing.

As seems to have been the case here, Anastacia was concerned about injuring herself further, got a medical opinion was told that was a possibility AND they obviously felt she would be able to continue with series or she would have been pulled out.

I wish they would just call Rinder, Robert Rinder. He's not a judge (AFAIK, except for his ITV show), he's a barrister

No, I'm not an expert but I do know something about surgery. Incisional hernias can be huge... or sometimes quite small - and they are not always immediately apparent. Sometimes a CT scan is required to confirm such a diagnosis.

I had no more inkling than you or anyone else about what her problem was. I simply speculated, based upon her known medical history i.e. what is already in the public domain. She has had multiple surgeries - both abdominal and breast - so her injury could very well have been related to any of those episodes.

Not sure what you're blabbering on about re "diagnosing" her. Nobody has done anything of the sort - apart from YOU that is, as you apparently don't believe that a hernia could even have been a possibility.

My own take on it is that, whatever her problem is, she is under no obligation to divulge anything of her medical condition to the viewing public.

Forum posters seem to be taking it fairly well on the discussion thread, tbh, and well done them. There's more angst on this one about it.....at the moment

Personally, I think the Beeb dealt with it as best they could, and I don't see old Melvin complaining about it. I'm not saying that to be argumentative or antagonistic, just my thoughts

See y'all next Saturday, have a good week X

But she danced the main show with the same injury, if it is that bad then Brendan should have asked for a bye and not danced at all.

And it wasn't, and your point is?

I wasn't diagnosing anything I said it wasn't a hernia it wasn't, not even an incisional hernia, that aparently you don't beleive anyone can diagnose without a CT scan which of course the BBC would not have been able to get during a 12 hour period, where are those rolley eyes.

There are numerous posts on here blaming an hernia, her Chrohns disease etc etc.

I said it wasn't a hernia it wasn't , nor was it her Chrohns disease and I really find it obnoxious that people feel they know more than Anastacia how to manage her own illnesses.

You are right though, she shouldn't feel the need to tell us any of her medical history.

Doing that performance probably exacerbated the injury. It's pretty easy to grasp.

All that there has been on here is understandable speculation about what the nature of her "injury" was. Given her known history, it could easily have been any of a number of things.... or could even have been something completely new and unrelated.

What has happened here is a case of Chinese Whispers. A hernia was mentioned - and so was her Crohn's Disease - both of which are well known about in relation to her unfortunate past history. It would be rather odd if nobody considered either to be a possibility when the word "injury" was used.

Either way, her injury IS apparently related to a wound from previous surgery,as suspected. The specific detail doesn't actually matter that much as far as we, the public, are concerned.

This is on the main board, presumably written by someone in the crew as his username is Backstageone!

"Everybody is very upset with the events that took place and the way that Anastacia manipulated the whole situation. It was not an all-happy affair back stage and even though everybody knows that Melvin is not the best dancer, he is a lovely person who deserved better.

Melvin took the high road and was very gracious, no surprise there. Anastacia warned the producers that she would rather walk out of the show than to participate in the dance off, She was asked if she wanted to stay doing the show and she replied, yes. faced with possible liability issues, the producers went ahead and decided that it was in the best interest of the Show to keep Anastacia and cast Melvin to the side, no surprise there either.

To be honest, I doubt the same would have happened if the shoe was on the other foot and I'll leave it at that. The Show must go on."

Very interesting!

Twaddle, what possible reason would the producers have for keeping her on the show if she had said she wanted to walk?

Threaten to walk, producers faced with any liability issues would be waving her off with a very big smile.

They would have said thanks love, off you go, and breathed a huge sigh of relief.
