The taste is much stronger, and improves any dish.

In a salad and ratatouille I do. Otherwise I tend to use white - red onions seem to go off much faster than white.

They're sweeter aren't they? And the colour is attractive.

I like both, I find red sweeter. Some dishes work well with red and some with normal.
I love beer braised caramalised red onions for hot dogs.

I prefer red to brown when raw but when cooked there really isn't much difference

When a make a cheese and onion sandwich or cheese on toast I use white,
For everything else, cooking, salads etc I use red.

I prefer red onions yes. I tend to use them more when cooking or adding to salad. The only time we use white onions is for Spanish omelette.

Yes I eat raw red onion. For cooking though I use white.

I use red, white & yellow, I buy whichever is on sale when I shop. I like them all, but I find sliced red onions the best for a quick pickle.

I only ever have red onion, in my salad.

I usually only get red in if cooking a particular dish. Happy to put any that are leftover in whatever I else make in the following days. Brown is my default choice, but it's habit more than anything else and I like red equally as much.

White onion for a cheese and onion sandwich.
Red for cooking.

Like most have said already, red for salads and milder dishes and white for a good savoury casserole or curry, etc,.

Red? Is that the sweet purple ones? Haven't had them in ages. Loved them on pizzas.
