US prices starting at $649?
Isn't that the same starting price as the iPhone?

![]() So they are mirroring iPhone pricing including the very profitable storage upsells. Bold. I wonder how current Nexus fans will feel about it? |

Be interesting to see what EEs prices will be like.
![]() For a phone that's totally meh. Sure, it's one of the first to support Daydream VR but that's only for a relatively short time, and I'm not sure people are going to rush to buy for that anyway (even if it's being bundled on Verizon if you pre-order, so maybe EE will do the same?). |

iPhone pricing with 2 years of OS updates and 3 years of security updates...
International version missing LTE band 4 CA again. No thanks, I'll stick with my 6P. |

It does feel insane. But they have added some very nice improvements, especially the camera if what they just said during the event holds true. And the unlimited storage for all your photos and videos at original resolution, no transcoding, no compressing them down, I guess they are adding some of the cost of that upfront to the hardware purchase. |

The camera has OIS now doesn't it? That and faster HDR might make it better than the 6P, but only marginally. You'd probably need to be coming from a handset in 2013/4 to really notice the difference, as I am sure that the S6 and S7, G4 or G5 and many other phones of late will be in the same ballpark.
Does anyone know what 4G speeds it supports? Cat 10, 11 or 12? The worst thing is that there's 32GB or 128GB options. 64GB and 128GB would have been better, given the pricing. Or just include a microSDXC slot! |

A 64GB Pixel at £599 would probably have persuaded me to order, now I'll wait and see what the reviews are like. It's the first time Google have released a phone and I've not ordered within minutes.

Well that is underwhelming, it really isn't any better than my S7. Just an HD display though?

It clearly isn't aimed at Nexus fans...
Even the official Nexus Twitter account is now having to do damage control. In my view, Google has given up the lower priced end of the market to Motorola and the Chinese. |

Me too. Well, I skipped the Nexus 6 too, for similar reasons (overpriced). Otherwise I have bought in multiple times since the first Nexus 7 and Nexus 4.

I bought a Nexus 6 (when my Nexus 5 died) but the Pixel, pretty as it is, is way overpriced. I'll be looking elsewhere when my N6 eventually dies.
Not paying £720 for a smaller screen for starters ..... I love my oversized N6 buddy

While the Pixel will be using the latest incarnation of Android, Google might also be announcing the replacement for Android, Andromeda, at the same time:
On October 4, Google is expected to reveal its plans for something that has been rumored about and reported on for over a year: a merging of its Android and Chrome OS in a way we've never before seen. It's called internally "Andromeda", according to reports by Android Police and 9to5 Google, and it's expected to become the singular platforms through which people access Google – so laptops, phones and tablets. |

I have a sinking feeling they'll tie more and more of their features to their own hardware and leave Android as basic as possible for all the others, which will surely worsen the fragmentation issues.
Didn't see any mention of this Andromeda in the keynote |
