To dance these properly she would have to stretch her uppoer body upwards and to the left, keep her arms lifted and sustain it. Ballroom could be very taxing indeed. She'd actually be better off doing a Latin dance.

I think it was a really bad move of Strictly to invite an artist of Barry Gibb's calibre to perform on the show and then have dancers in front of him. I couldn't hear a thing with everybody cheering each time the dancer did a move! Why invite A-list artists onto the show to have them playing background music whilst the audience are watching something else? I wouldn't be surprised if other big stars of Barry's status don't bother doing Strictly if this is how they get treated. The producers need a rethink. The sad thing is, it sounded like it was a good new song, but for all I could hear it may have been a pile of ***!

One thing I could tell was that he still sounds great and that he appeared to have an outstandingly good band.

I vote for Strictly re-showing this performance next week with the cheers removed so we can actually hear it. Anybody else agree?

Barry Gibb needs to listen to himself with a critical analytical ear. That was pretty shoddy to be honest.

Well, exactly. It's not going to clear up overnight is it? She needs to take care of herself now ... I'm surprised she was ever advised to take part. Dancing at that level is so strenuous ... it was bound to affect her in that way.
Feel she should have retired when the injury happened. It's too serious to just carry on regardless and if she retires now it'll be unfair to Melvin. Brendan should have handled it better and advised her to ask for a bye this week and see if things improve.
Everyone who thinks she should have retired is being called heartless but it's heartless to expect her to put herself through another week of training and another routine. I can't see her doing it especially as she now knows she hasn't got public support. Not worth the risk .. she could sustain even worse injuries.

Read the Guinness Book of World Records. He is the second most successful songwriter of all time. Oh yes, and his band the Bee Gees are in the top 5 best selling recording artists ever. If that isn't A-list, how do you get onto that list?!

They MAY have BEEN A List - he certainly isn't now.

Let's see how his new album sells before we write him off. The last project that Barry Gibb worked on that failed was his first solo album in 1984, but he has had several number ones singles and numerous hit albums since then.

Whether people are fans or not of Gibb is irrelevant. If they are going to do this whenever any star performs, I doubt many will agree to do the show. I don't mind dancers while the song is performed, but for an audience to start whooping and cheering and clapping at certain points is completely disrespectful.

He should have just brought a suitcase full of candles with him, like Annie Lennox.

I'm sure TPTB never have a problem booking musical acts wishing to publicise their latest offering on the biggest show on weekend prime time TV.

It's a dancing show, with an audience made up of people who love watching dance, and if producers didn't want them to show their appreciation during the performance, they would ask them to wait until the end to applaud. They are quite capable of showing proper respect when required, as they did during an army choir song on Remembrance Sunday one year when Vincent and Flavia danced, and producers requested no noise until the end of the performance.

Barry Gibb didn't look in the least bit put out, he knew it would happen ( I believe he's been on in the past?), and he warmly applauded the dancers at the end, as they did to him.

Exactly - if the dancers weren't there I would just FF through the musical acts (as I did with Annie Lennox and her sea of candles). The musical acts should be grateful the dancers are there as it means a large part of the audience listen to their new song when they might not otherwise bother.

Already I'm really enjoying the new season of SCD, but I have to say that never before have I had to keep referring to my crib sheet so often to remind myself who many of the 'celebrities' are!

Before this season I had absolutely no idea who Daisy Lowe, Laura Whitmore, Judge (?) Rinder, Anastacia, Danny Mac, Melvin Odoom or Ore Oduba were. Even now I'm still not entirely sure what Judge Rinder ('daytime TV titan') actually does .. I mean, I presume this is a stage name for some kind of game show, right?

Never mind, it's still an unmissable show, but thank goodness for the fast forward facility on my recorder - two hours of programming is easily viewable in under an hour .. perfect!

I do agree. She has done a lot for cancer awareness and gone through absolute hell.

If her situation makes others uncomfortable then they should look to their own consciences and attitudes. Because she is not the one at fault here.

I finally watched these back... Even allowing for a hastily re-choreographed routine their seemed to be a lot of armography and throwing around, so it is easy to see why even that aggravated the scar tissue.

Quite telling that even as far as the final names were being called it was all about the forthcoming DO, and having thankfully fast forwarded past Barry Gibb, the final conclusion still felt a little sour...even though the public vote bore out in the end,

I've mentioned elsewhere.... Surely this can be Anastasia's only bye. I can't see how it would be fair for her to receive a second into the next round this week. I suspect when they finally surface on ITT it will be to say she is continuing come what may (including a potential DO) or she has to pull out altogether.

I hate the cheering and clapping for the dancers when there is a singer on even if I don't actually like the singer. It is very very rude and disrespectful.

Eliminating Melvin was wrong. That made up rule is ridiculous, pathetic and unfair. "Oh Melvin you are totally unpopular with the public so bye".

There should have been no elimination and, if Anastacia stays in, there should have been a double elimination next week.

I have always liked Anastacia and admired her but I still think the decision was wrong. In all honesty with that injury how on earth can she even train let alone dance? She obviously is not that popular (she wasn't right at the bottom of the leader board and yet still ended up in the dance off) so may well be in the dance off again on Saturday. What will happen then if she can't do it.

I was following the spoiler thread Saturday night and no one could understand just why it was taking so long for the result. When it was given the time taken was even more strange. Surely it should have been much quicker with no time taken for the dance off? It's pretty obvious there were desperate talks by panicked producers etc as to how they could keep the so called "big name" in. So they make up a rule which is ludicrous.
