OK a bit tongue in cheek, but how does everyone plan for a long two hour live show, without breaks?

Do you have dinner early, or a take away, Do you have to visit the small room quickly at 6.15 to avoid missing the start.

Phone off the hook?

Get drinks in? Have a party, invite friends.

Tonight is going to be a heck of a great show, and I think no one will want to miss a bit of it, so what is the strategy?

I think the contenders will be on later near and in the clash with, that other show from 8 pm, I can see Judge Rinder being up late.

I have the added issue that due to the start time some if the family get back from work, just after it starts, does that frustrate anyone if you know you could be interrupted, or you go with the flow, and if you miss a dance, well you miss it, or it's the end of the world if someone speaks during SCD?

Perfect: sounds just like my routine!

I also try to remember to log in to the BBC site, so I don't have to faff about when the show finishes, and then I'm all ready to vote too.

How many people have not got a recorder?
Few, so it's hardly a problem for most.

Record it and watch later, there's a lot of padding that can be avoided.
Or record it and start watching it some minutes later, then wizz through any boring bits.

Or record it and watch it at the same time, pausing it whenever you want a break.

With my Humax, I don't even have to record it, just stop it during the live show, whenever, then let it run when you're ready.

I just sit down and watch it & go for a food/toilet break during the VTs if needed.

Recorder doesn't work....if you want to vote!

To be honest IMHO there are no " boring" bits. It's a non stop rollacister, nipping in and out would spoil the feel of it being live and you watching it live, as it happens.

Good ideas, normally my IPad stays logged in, unless it's had a clean up, I do check just before voting.

I've watched every show from the start, not necessarily live, sometimes recorded but I've never voted..Ever.
I really don't mind who wins,

But that's the point a lot of SCD viewers watch it live as they do want to vote for their chosen favourite!

You only get a short time post show to vote.

I've no problems with what other people do. It's obviously a lot more important to them who stays in, than it is to me.

Record good 20 mins of it and then dip in - so that I can FF past the useless bits - Len and Bruno's commentary, Tess and her sidekick, ghastly videos, group fake gatherings, Clifton anything, etc, etc - and just watch the dancing.

I never vote - why waste the money or the time? Never feel the need.

Dinner early (ready meal from Sainsburys), breaks if necessary during the VTs.

I am already registered on the BBC website as they are my home page. You don't have to pay for the online votes.

Husband doing the cooking! I get the best seat in kitchen which faces TV.
I'll watch live, pause if I need a wee, then FF to catch up

Voting online is free, and to keep your favourite in.

Yes, I know - but I never vote for any TV shows. Ever.

I just don't get caught up in all that.

I voted less when it was by phone only, but now it's online I will vote up to my limit, as it's free and easy,

However currently I do not have a favourite so will decide tonight.

A "Strictly Takeaway" is always ordered for hubby to collect just before the show starts.

I warm the plates and get the drinks ready, and then we sit down in front of the telly and enjoy the entertainment, using the pause button to clear the plates away.

Then sometimes i sneak a few sweeties for "dessert"!

Dinner v early and then copious amounts of wine and CHEESE STRAWS!! (highly recommend the ones from Waitrose with poppy seeds on.) You can also use them to point at stuff and to tap out the beat of a good song.
Later we have Maltesers which are good for both eating and throwing at TV. 10 points if you hit Craig right between the eyes. They don't mix well with wine but by then we don't care.

As I seem to be coming down with man flu 😷, I'm seriously thinking about watching it on catch-up in FF mode.

When nature calls I press a pause button. Also Anton's VT is a nice moment for a break.

That sounds brilliant ... I might have to adopt the Malteser method though I will need a tray of some kind underneath, wouldnt want to waste any, particularly on Craig

Your evening sounds brilliant! Love the idea of cheese straws as an accessory, we only have them at Christmas, don't know why really, may have to get an early box.
