Sorry if this has already been covered , but what is her injury ?

They didn't say but most people speculated it was back related from the way she was moving. I assume if it was her shoulder she wouldn't have been able to lift her arms up like she did.

They didn't say, but mentioned something about her lower body. I would guess she's torn or pulled a muscle, which is incredibly painful.

She was holding her lower abdomen as she ran up the stairs

Thanks guys . I thought maybe I'd missed a thread on it .

To be honest I think the "lower body" comment was about her inability to get hip action both last week and this . But there was a lack of shoulder movement and I think she(or Brendan) sort of indicated that area while in front of the judges . Fair play she did some sort of dance , but will she be able to train this week ? I presume they'll give her a dance that will be easiest on her injury .

I think someone said that she might have been dropped.

Don't they all get a bye for injury once per series ?
So why did she do that dumbed down routine instead of taking a bye ?
I must say her dancing in general has left me unimpressed. She is one of those who looks great in rehearsal vids but doesn't deliver on the night .So far anyway. If she stays she needs to buckle up and get cracking .
Lesley is 70 and has more energy and hippy hippy shake .
Oh well, I hope she recovers in time to train for next week .

Simple answer: it's Week 2. I noticed that she was holding her stomach as she went up the stairs, which suggested a pulled muscle to me. That is painful, and will certainly have affected her performance, but it is not a grievous injury. The thought that worse may be in store as the series progresses may have been a factor in the decision to go ahead. Standards rise as the contestants learn and get fitter : the routines become more physically demanding. She is nearly 50 years of age and obviously well past her physical peak. Brendan will have been trying to build up her physical fitness, but that resulted in an injury yesterday. He has a bit of a quandary on his hands.

the routine that they did was brilliant there was well loads of Salsa so yeah she was way better than Lesley

She didn't impress me last week or this tbh, I know she was injured this week but even without that I doubt she would have been that great.

Seems to be all about the posturing and the 'fierce' faces with her, not a dancer in my book.

I find this injury somewhat mysterious and wonder why we haven't been told what it is. She has really disappointed me - all talk and no action. Shame because I've always been a fan.

Perhaps it's something intimate/personal in nature? She is entitled to a degree of personal privacy/confidentiality and she's not any more obliged to disclose medical information than anyone else in this world just because she's on Strictly.

I'm not talking about her Human Rights - more about getting the vote in to stay on the show

So she should disclose personal information just to garner votes?

If her dancing is seen to be good enough, the partnership pleasing enough, or the support for her donation to cancer charity seen to be worthy enough, she will get the votes (from most people at any rate).

It still doesn't give the show any entitlement to divulge personal medical information. Unless she herself opts to reveal what her issue is or gives permission for it to be made public, it's really not appropriate for anyone else to do so.

Maybe she wants to have it fully investigated before announcing what it is.

Oh dear me! I don't care what she does - her choice entirely. I'm just disappointed that she is not very good and we will lose poor Brendan

This is a weekly show, not Doctors!

I think the reaction to penelople's post is a bit strong actually. Whilst I accept celebs are entitled to a certain amount of privacy, I'd have thought that it is a case of say nothing at all about an injury (i.e.don't call on the audience or judges to make allowances) or give some explanation. The exception to this would be if the injury were of a very personal nature. However last night's show probably wasn't the time/place to be discussing the injury in detail and so I am not surprised we know very little. Maybe we will find out more on ITT.

Exactly. Priorities and all that.

The show and the voting public doesn't own her. If she wants her medical status to remain under wraps for now, she'e entitled to do so. She may not even know the full implications herself yet.

I'm sure it will be announced in due course, so there's probably no need for anyone to get arsey about it at this stage.

It sounds like it was a very recent event - perhaps it hasn't been fully diagnosed. Someone with Anastasia's previous medical history is going to be super cautious with their health and diagnosing.

what is this comment supposed to mean?
If I had a pulled muscle I would want to take it easy for three weeks.
She now has a big problem.

I am really quite appalled at some of the posters on DS with regards to this,

I was happy to know it was an injury.....where it matters not to me, how she did it it matters not to me, I am sure that she and Brendan have discussed the issue with those who need to know. If it is something that won't recover quickly then I also think that may have been discussed with producers etc and probably she wouldn't have taken to the floor last night.

These are people who put themselves out there to entertain us and that is it, We don't own them and we most certainly don't have ANY right whatsover to know about their medical issues unless they chose to tell people.

I hope Anastacia makes a good and early recovery, I would never vote for her but I admire her resilience enormously, and I hope that she gets through when the results are out and can give a performance that she can be proud of next week.
