She is as cute as a button

However, with her being so sweet I would lose all my teeth if I gorged on an album of hers.

If all the best from each category had gone through from Judge's Houses she would have been lucky to have lasted a couple of weeks.

Unique and amazing? Lol! There are literally hundreds of cute young girls who can sing and play the guitar. Most of them are singing and playing in pubs and at folk festivals. IMHO there is absolutely nothing special about Emily.

Amy Macdonald (Scottish, dark haired, guitar playing etc etc) has a far superior voice.

I honestly can't understand the love for Emily. She' accomplished at what she does, but the little contrived eye movements and cutsie twee act really gets on my wick.

I do think she is one of the chosen ones though, and no doubt over the next few weeks we will all be brainwashed into believing she's the best thing to come out of Scotland since shortbread.

anyone who can sing in control, isn't relying on a sob story and doesn't make my ears bleed gets my vote

I thought this show had ten a penny endless renditions of Whitney / Beyoncé rubbish

Emily is decent, but she is no Lianne La Havas I am afraid.

She has potential.

However what is gonna hurt her is she does need to have a more powerful vocal if she wants to win as the public on talent shows never take an experiment and pick a subtle singer to ever win, and the uptempo issue will haunt her I reckon as Simon's uptempo numbers will probably be more Mariah Carey than The Lumineers.

Playing the Guitar is apart of her performance, it's just you're not keen on the style is all.

And I'm sorry but one thing I'm bored off other than Whitney wannabes, and Nicholas McDonald choirboy types, is acts dancing to cover up horrific vocals, not everyone has to dance to be interesting on this show, people can just play an Instrument and still be enjoyable to watch as it's more in line with what the show is suppose to be anyway... a Music competition.

She will soon get boring - I give it until week 3 where she starts being thrown under the bus by the producers with comments from Louis and Sharon ''Its the same thing each week''

Also she was so annoying on the xtra factor had a loud laugh after everything.

Totally agree. She's got nothing about her at all. Just a delicate little voice and a guitar. No idea why simon picked her.

I would call it a soft voice. I tend to prefer soft voices - eg Billie Holiday, Lianne la Havas, Corinne Bailey Rae, Norah Jones - to loud, so-called 'big' voices.

She's good but won't lift the roof off the place and get standing ovations like Caitlyn might have been able to.

That's not Emily's fault that the show loves Diva Shouters though and don't appreciate other types of Music.

I mean if it was up to the public on this show it would just be a bunch of Divas wailing, shouting, and screeching at me.

The problem the show has is it is catering for a Saturday night audience that is not really represntative of the people that go out and buy music

Not a fan of big voices I take it. I get that everyone has different tastes but they're not all shouters and screamers. I love a big voice with control in a studio which can be totally spine tingling. I like Emily but just don't think she's able to create that feeling in a studio. I would enjoy her singing and guitar playing around the campfire.

I like big voices when done well, in fact my number one genre is Rock Music and you can't get any louder than that in Music genres.

I don't like X Factor's Diva acts though as they're poor wannabes of Whitney (who actually had a very good voice just not to my Music style) or overdoing the warbling and the shrill noises to be the next Mariah Carey (who again I think can actually sing) so yeah for me it's I don't like the karaoke versions of these acts as they're clearly untrained in doing the belting noises.

And my last point is that I'm defending Emily because I know that she's gonna get the dull tag just because she sings subtle rather than her performances actually being dull.

She is the kind of singer that is pleasant to listen to, but wont get you sat on the edge of your seat or excited.

Well that's been proven with most of the winners.

Yes, she is more in the Easy Listening genre and sings the kind of music you would play when relaxing and winding down in the evening before bedtime.

From producer's point of view.Emily is the perfect female contestant. She has a very pleasant voice, but without exceptional ability, and her performance repertoire potential is limited.(to really stand out, she will need any song styled and arranged like every other arrangement she has performed this season so far)She *can* sing more challenging songs, but it doesn't suit her or her voice type as well. That makes her ideal in two significant ways.

1) Because Emily is limited, and about as good as Matt but less versatile,it will be easy to keep her in as long as it works , and when the time comes, sooner or later, send her home in a sing off and much of her (young/pop) vote will transfer to the chosen finalist/ideal winner

2)Because she has such a professional polished sound and image, she will be one they can market ,promote and profit off of without her winning

From a purely artistic standpoint, while her voice alone, while beautiful, was not quite enough to make her stand out, I think her dedication and ability to work to her strengths ,not giving up and polishing her act until she made herself stand out is something special in itself, and I hope she gets what she hopes for out of her time on the show.

Couldn't disagree more - she has so much going for her! Her voice is a perfect recording voice. I'm sure she'll go far.

I think Emily will probably finish around 5th place which is pretty decent.

Yes I'd agree. She's good enough for the lives and should last longer than most. If she proves to be a threat to the chosen one then she'll be easy to get rid of with song choice. They just need to give Candy or Uptown Funk and take away her guitar.

I'm sure Louis will have been told to give her the one trick pony feedback from around week four.

I like Emily but i do fear for any artist like her on XF. lets face it even Ed Sheeran chucking out slow covers of upbeat songs would become pretty samey week after week!

An artist like Emily really needs original material to truly shine
