Danny reminded me of a young Pierce Brosnan (in his Remington Steele days) in that tux last night.

Poor Oti having to look at that every day!

I do think Danny is probably a better dancer than Jay, but for me it was the partnership that made me love Jay and Aliona. It kind of reminded me of interviews with the late great Fred and Ginger, they both admitted that Ginger wasnt the greatest dancer in the world and they had to do many takes before they got it perfect for the screen but their partnership just had that x factor that his partnerships with much more accomplished dancers lacked.
Its early days this series though and maybe Danny will grow on me

Jay had some very classy touches but he always looked like someone learning ballroom and latin dances. Danny just looks like a dancer and he moves like a dancer too.

Even at this stage Danny is much better than jay ever was .
Better yet he is not constructing a cutesy character to tug at heart strings . He might be annoyingly upbeat and in your face confident but that kind of open honesty is my preference with ringers .
Each to their own etc etc .

Jay had a balletic quality to his dancing, where Danny is more West End Show.

Loving how happy Oti is & nice to see her inventive choreography on an able partner.

They're completely different dancers so I have no idea why anyone would compare them with each other.

Jay studied contemporary dance for about a year, but Danny is an Arts Ed student and he will have studied tap and stage dancing as a matter of course. Arts Ed produce very good dancers so I'd expect him to be able to dance well.

Who cares about comparisons? It's 2016 and a new show with different people.

Why hark back to the past? Or are you really atually wanting to start yet another, 'Jay was no good' thread? It's been done to death already.

I agree with this.^^^ I like Danny's dancing and hope he wins, but Jay had vulnerability which was, and is, very endearing

Completely agree.

Also agree.

I was a massive fan of Jay and Aliona, and I think I am already a fan of Danny and Oti. Meaning that their partnerships are key of how much I like them.

Jay never became a great ballroom dancer, with two exceptions the Waltz (w2) and his tango (w8). But his Latin was fabulous. There was a fragility in his dancing that was captivating to me.

Agree with this. Let's concentrate on this year's contestants.

Jay won his year which is good enough for me.

Some of you may agree or disagree”

But will the mothers/grandmothers want to mother him and the young girls be with him? Nah - not as good!

Yes he's. I still don't think that Jay was amazing in the ballroom as he could have been. It still baffles me that Harry Judd did so much better in the ballroom than Jay ever did. Given Jay's experience and promises he showed in his week 2 waltz, he should've been better. Imo. However Jay had something he doesn't have. ..immense likability. I personally think that he's a lovely guy but some people think that he's arrogant, fake. .......go figure.
I also think that Danny will be in the dance off at some point in the series .

I actually fancy Danny much more than I ever fancied Jay (which was a fair amount to be honest).

I agree, Jay has immense likeablility.
And I don't doubt that Danny could end up in the bottom 2, ans I don't think he is going to win either. But hopefully they will last a very long time because so far Danny and Oti they have been glorious.

I loved Jay last year and this year love Danny different dancers, different personalities but if I had to choose and I know its early in the competition to judge but would have to pick Danny, I like him so much more he brings something different this year he brings sex appeal and inner confidence I know some people think he is arrogant but I dont think he is at all.

I think over time Danny will have the edge because he is an actor. But who cares....live in the present. Loved Jay last year but this year I'm fully behind Danny and Oti.

Don't think he could have bettered that dance in week 3 if he was still in the show now!
Danny is obviously good and has done a bit before ( like jay)... but maybe people should concentrate more on whether he is even the best dancer THIS year...not a given yet, by any means...

My ovaries remain distinctly unmoved by Danny, for all his chiselled perfection. Jay, however, I found very endearing and likeable (although not in an ovary-stirring kind of way). I just found his dancing far more enjoyable.

Danny has hit the ground running and got off to a great start. His dancing ability, along with his soap-award-winning looks should pull in plenty of votes - he ticks lots of boxes, but I'm not sure if he has that indefinable appeal that will win over the Strictly voting audience. We will have to wait and see

^^^ Yes, this. If he does, then great. But it still won't diminish any of the pleasure I got from watching Jay last year, or make me more inclined to vote for Danny. I'm sure he's a lovely guy, but I always found his performances on Hollyoaks a bit 2-dimensional and over-reliant on his physical appearance, and I don't feel I'm seeing anything on Strictly that shows him in a different light or makes him seem more relatable. I'm afraid I'm just not really 'getting' him.

I watch Danny's dances and I like them but he doesn't make me feel like Jay did. It came more from the heart with Jay and in any case, he just had IT as far as I was concerned. More IT than anyone else has had so far. On the dance floor, off the dance floor.
Danny is like Natalie Gumede. Very accomplished, I enjoy their performances ... but I don't feel anything and I'm not moved.
I love Oti though and would be thrilled for her if she won.

I think Danny looks more like a professional hoofer than Jay. Yes. Absolutely. He can do it. He can dance. That's it. He IS a dancer.

I can't expend any energy in wishing him well or hoping he'll do a good job because he just will. He's the finished article. I don't think I'll enjoy his ballroom though.

I feel about him the way I feel about every ringer.

Why is it all the best dancers from the off have the least distinctive personalities?
- Ricky Whittle, Natalie, Jay, Danny
Only Denise Van Outed had any personality as a ringah- and everybody hated it
