I honestly cant believe what im reading about all the negativity towards Anastasia's injury, she did this show because in her own words she wanted to feel feminine again, after going through what she has, any woman would be trying to rebuild herself!

She came to SCD because of the positivity, I hope she never comes in here!

I want to say well done, for not shying away, for doing it for this cause, to highlight its not only the disease they have to fight, its everything, emotionally, physically afterwards, and just when you think you are okay, it affects you again.... she didn't ask for this... she tried her best last night!

Shes massively inspirational for this, and to women and men fighting this right now, she has my support! Shes doing it to highlight this and the effects of cancer, supporting Cancer Research, and to show you can still try things you've never done!

I agree. I feel so bad for her with all the negativity about her here, especially seeing as before yesterday she was one of, if not the most popular contestant this year. She's a strong woman so I hope she can get through this.

Well said. She is a brave, strong woman and I hope she still manages to enjoy her Strictly experience. That would be a massive boost to her and, like you say to others in a similar position.
imo not going by the public vote would have caused a backlash from the voters so the BBC did the right thing under the circumstances.

Just opinion divided on whether she should continue rigorous training and aggravate her body more , or bow out with head held high that she did her best .

Well said people accusing her of fake Tears and apparently there is an issue about her being American.

I think the only reason people are against her is that they think she should have withdrawn if she couldn't carry on, or have asked for a bye before Saturday. They feel very sorry for Melvin, who might have danced better in the dance off and gone through, but wasn't given the chance and dumped.

I think she thought she was a shoe in to get voted through and the BBC don't want to lose Brendan in the first round so came up with this.

I hope for her sake she withdraws in the week, because if she is in the bottom two next week and refuses to dance off there will be a riot, mascectomy or not!!

I think this has been a misplaced example of 'showing why you cant let cancer win'.

I totally understand the sentiment, but clearly she wasn't ready. There is a danger that she is actually setting a bad example by undertaking the show so soon after surgery. Thousands of women undergo such surgery and it takes time and you need to look after yourself and take things slowly for many months afterwards.

What people don't need to see is celebs defying usual recovery times and 'getting back to normal' in record time - it reminds me of the race to lose baby weight that celebs always seem to do.

If she still wants to highlight anything about post mastectomy breast cancer, her best bet is to bow out gracefully to show that she now has to put herself and her recovery first.

But her surgery was in 2013, three years ago!

A dear friend died nearly a year ago, after a 20 year battle with breast cancer. One arm was completely useless, but she still battled on despite her limitations, doing the things she enjoyed right to the end.

A colleague has celebrated reaching her 50th breast cancer free. I knew a man with breast cancer. A family who are predisposed to developing problems. All of them are the bravest, strongest and most determined people I know.

It really does not matter how long ago you had surgery or treatment, the scars remain and can cause problems at any moment.

So, until people walk a mile in the shoes of someone with such a history of breast cancer, they should at the very least have some sympathy with the fear those in remission live with, every single moment of their lives and appreciate how precious those moments are.

Having walked in those very shoes and having lost friends on the way, I admire her tenacity. I also applaud you for your comments.

Well said, the malice, and horrible things are saying about Anastasia is unreal!

She has done this for a cause, and to prove something to herself, no wonder she had a meltdown, it must have been another massive blow again that its STILL affecting her life!

To hear all this...... makes me sad that people are so callous, and hope they don't have to go through what she has.....

The one thing I can guarantee is that all she wants to do is feel "normal". Thats it, just normal. Having breasts removed is the soul destroying thing of this terrible disease and then to undergo a poison being pumped in to you to make you feel even worse is just awful.

The one thing is to get back to whatever normal is, but you cant so you make the best of what you have and make sure that no matter what, you can do the things you want to do. You WILL NOT BE BEATEN.

I guess she wanted to give it a go, no matter what. But sometimes it happens where you have to say, you know what on this occasion I just cant, its not giving in, its being realistic. Those times are when you need support not criticism.

Haivng a mastectomy can take years to heal, mentally and physically, even lifting your arms up and just being totally numb for years and years. She is doing this to raise money for her charity, and is doing a damn fine job

It's very upsetting when you see people accusing her of being a Diva when she was obviously a) in pain and b) scared! I hope she never gets to see or hear about some of those awful comments. So judgmental and nasty.

I 100% agree, I admire her for having a go, but I would hope Anastacia will now retire from the gruelling rehearsals needed for strictly, also Brendan must be under a terrible strain.
