Were in 2016 and there seems to be about 30 on Sky. Are most people not buying online now? And who would watch a shopping channel anyway, its not like in the US where there are only 10 and they are scattered throughout the place so you just stumple on them? They have their own section. New ones seem to be opening every few months. Much like music video channels there are 30 of them. I though they would suffer greatly with the internet?

Idealworldtv is a absolutely dreadful shopping channel. They have the most annoying female presenter on the planet: Sally Jacks. Then they sell ghastly products like drill bits and some fitness rubbish called vibrapower.. And then they got mle fitness guru rick hay is a smug, he's ghastly. The other channels are also pointless. QVCUK Is just about selling beauty products with that Allison woman who's always on rant over.

There are some good points to the shopping channels like the ladies who model underwear on QVC

While I rarely watch shopping channels, I have no probs about their continuing usefulness to some people.

Even I tune in when a DIY or Gardening hour is on QVC, as I like to see a product in action. Haven't bought from QVC (except a few plants) in years, but have seen stuff I liked which I later sourced online cheaper.

I notice there seems to be a bit less overnight teleshopping on the main channels these days

Stupid and housebound. Stupid and disabled. Stupid and not blinkered. Stupid and willing to try something.

I am looking forward to my lunch, from the Real Pie Company, bought from QVC. But of course I'm stupid, because I tried them about 2 years ago and enjoyed them a lot. The TSV just about comes around in time each time before I run out in the freezer.

My Girlfriend's mother is a classic example of how the channels keep going, she has internet access at home but leaves QVC Germany on all day and when she goes to bed has QVC on in the bedroom

Just dread Weihnachten im Juli

I sometimes watch QVC for the hi tec hours and once in a while household helpers hours.
I have bought a few things from QVC in the past.
I also like Chole Everton and Debbie Flint on QVC.
Also Lee Hobine seems a good tec expert on QVC.
I do think at times QVC shows to many beauty hours as well as at times jewllery hours.
As for Ideal World I don't like how they sometimes just show one product per hour. Also some of the presenting on Ideal World is poor.
QVC is a far better shopping channel then Ideal World.
I do agree that some of the part time shopping channels are a waste of space.

I have deleted all those crappy channels off of my tvs tuner so never have to flick through them. How do they keep going?

seem to recall at one time that a freeview slot cost £7Million , and that was all there was to pay unless you wanted to be bumped up the channel list

The answer is old people.

And there are lots of those -- look at the recent EU referendum.

Just the P&P fees, which is clearly how they make their money are enough to put me off. Why would ANYONE pay that!!!

There are far more shopping channels in the US than 10.

Because they don't see the P&P charge as being unreasonable?

The channel makes money because people buy things from it. As well as the income from sales, they make money from customers who call in, and from the P&P charges.

I don't see why people think it is a mystery how these channels make money. They're in the business of doing this, and do it quite well by all accounts.
