Just take a look at this. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-suffolk-37541137

His family had a press conference just now. Wonder what happened?

I hope...really hope...that this doesn't turn out to be what everyone on the BBC was trying hard not to mention; a second attempt by jihadis to snatch an airman off-station...

Really hope he is okay but it really doesn't look good at all.

You do have to wonder just what has happened to him. It was only 30 miles away where two men, with middle eastern appearance, tried to abduct another serviceman who was out jogging, a couple of months back but he fought them off.

Could well have been an accident as he had been out drinking.

He was drunk as a skunk. If he has died ... and I hope he hasn't, then I hope he knew nothing about it.

Probably because there is not the remotest scrap of evidence for that?

It certainly sounds that way at the moment - though the search for his phone does make you wonder how (if found where they are looking) that could happen.

I have a feeling that this is not going to end at all well...... which is a shame.

I know plenty of people who have lost their mobiles on a drunken night out.

If he did actually try to walk back to base in his drunken state and got into difficulty somewhere out in the countryside, banged his head when stumbling into a waterlogged ditch for example, then I'm afraid this story will most likely not have an happy ending.

I sincerely hope he's found alive, but sadly I don't think that's going to happen.

Why would you use that emoticon at the end of your post? What are you trying to imply?

It is bound to be a concern after recent events but I don't think it is likely this time. ISIS likes publicity. There would have been a video of horrors if they had taken him.

Don't you think that if that was the case then it would have been well publicised by the abductors by now?
I feel he was trying to walk back to base and has had an accident in his highly drunk state. The RAF regiment lads are well known to walk back to Honington from Bury after nights out.

Unfortunately I think this is the most likely scenario, although it surprises me that the RAF lads don't stick together on a night out. Sky News mentioned that a bin lorry has been seized which is a worrying development.

They get drunk and wander off, possibly meaning to meet up later, just the same as other groups of lads around the country I guess.
It's basically just down the road from me, and tbh I just feel so much for his Mum and other family. It must have them on their knees.

Yes, I can't even begin to imagine what his family are going through. Having sons just a few year older it's what I fear evert time they go out and get drunk.

The reason I said about them sticking together is that my older son was in the Navy and he said he and his mates stuck together on a night out but of course it is easy to get separated.

My son is a couple of years younger and in the RAF. He has been on nights out in Norwich (he's at Marham) and has split from his mates while steaming drunk. Luckily he had enough sense left to call me as he couldn't find the place they were staying and I went and picked him up. But yes, I also worry like you when I know he's out for a night's drinking.

Yep it's easy to get separated when you're drunk. Sometimes it can be just when you go to the loo - either your mates have moved on, or you come back to a crowded bar and in your inebriated state you think leaving and going for a wander alone to get food is a good idea.

He could have dropped his phone in a bin, hence the dustbin lorry picking it up.

Wandering home for several miles in the pitch black is a bad idea and sadly it probably didn't end well. There are plenty of stories locally from usually young men who've staggered into the nearby river and drowned.

I have seen me lose friends in a bar with 20 people in never mind a busy club in town etc, All it takes is someone to move a few feet from where they were and you look elsewhere for them and they return to that spot and someone says you have been and gone so they go looking and before you know it you are both in separate places looking for the other

Obviously a charged phone means this is easily sorted, But a flat phone and you are stuck

Odd after they tracked it on the same route.
