I seem to have accidentally deleted holiday photos from a recent holiday. I downloaded Diskdigger which recovers photos, but only to a pretty poor quality. Apparently I have read that to recover full photos you need to root your phone? Does anyone know if this is true?

I have a Galaxy S6. I don't want to spend hours trying to root it if the photos cannot be recovered in their original quality.

Many thanks for any help you can give!

did you have anything like google photos or similar on your phone?
there is a chance that they may be backed up here https://www.google.com/photos/about/
