And there I was thinking the show was all about Dolores, now I'm wondering whether it's all about Maeve.


I think Bernard is Arnold, or a copy of him or something. We know that Ford lies (we see Bernard choking/killing Elsie). If Ford lies to Bernard (even when he can erase his memory) then there's no reason for Ford not to tell Bernard that he is/was Arnold. He told Bernard that he's never harmed anyone else, and we know that's not true.


It seems there are (at least) three timelines in play here, and William is definitely the MIB; it's his reference to his wife that has sold it for me (because we know that William is due to be married). It's also William that meets the greeter pre-park; and it's the MIB that recognises her. If the MIB isn't William, then all of this is too much of a coincidence.

As I suspected Bernard did kill Elsie
I do think they are taking liberties with the timeline and editing though.

I wish I could be cryogenically frozen and woken up once this series is finished so I can watch it in one go.

Good episode this week. Nothing mind blowing but quietly confident in itself:

- So this episode strongly implied Ford had something to do with Elsie's disappearance. It can't have been Bernard because Elsie was on the phone to him as she got kidnapped, so it has to have been Ford, or perhaps another host that killed her off? Last week I thought that Ford might make a host of Teresa, who was quite explicitly dead this week. Well, Bernard states that Elsie is simply on vacation. Perhaps she's "on vacation" rather than "dead dead" because SHE is the host Ford is making in his office?

- Ford deleting Bernard's memories of his romance with Teresa was a bad mistake because he didn't account for the fact that someone else in the office might know about that romance - Stubbs. As soon as Bernard said he knew nothing of a romance, Stubbs seemed to have become suspicious that something is up. Could Stubbs be a late game human hero that ends up bringing down Ford/the Board?

- William and Dolores finding the dying boy by the river makes me think this was the first step in the transition from William to MIB. When Dolores goes to the river to get the water, the boy dies but is it possible William killed him (which he suggested doing in the first place?)

- Might Dolores kill Logan? If Dolores kills Logan to protect William this could be "THE EVENT" from 30 years ago, and may be why MIB gets carte blance to do as he pleases in the park - because a host killed his family member and friend and this may even be WHY Ford has contempt towards Delores, because she essentially created the one person capable of stopping him, MIB. Furthermore this may be the event that changes William into the MIB for good - a dark isolated figure who doesn't trust the hosts ans uses them to his own ends - and may also be why MIB's wife kills herself, because her brother died in the park and her husband became addicted to it and became a totally different person because of it.

- Plus on the W=MIB front, in the MIB era, MIB stumbles across the host that introduces William to Westworld and gets him all geared up and ready to go into the park, and states that he's amazed she's got a new role but that Ford would never get rid of a pretty face. That recognisation being the most blatant hint yet that William is the Man in Black?

- The Maeve/Sylvester/Felix storyline is getting silly now, but we know that Ford has eyes and ears on EVERYTHING in the park, meaning surely he must be allowing Sylvester and Felix to ramp Maeve way up, but why? Is she the cataclysym for his new storyline?

There can be more than one host of Bernard. He is a robot so can be duplicated at will.

What did the tech guy do to the other tech's throat? It looked like he healed him just enough to keep him alive.

Bernard & Elsie's call had ended - we saw her getting grabbed from behind while she was doing further digging into the computer an undefined time later.
Then there's this episode's flashback Bernard had of choking her from behind - there seems little room for it not to have been him (whatever ultimately happened to her - no body yet). The question now is whether Ford was lying when he told Bernard that he had not made him harm anyone before - if it wasn't under Ford's orders, could Bernard have been under someone else's influence?


Yes, looks like it wasn't a deep slash and he cauterized it to stop the bleeding.

I'm guessing we're building up to an incident that disillusions and parts William & Dolores, kills Logan and introduces us (once more) to a CGI-ed younger Ford, sealing the timeline issue..

Was he? I replayed it a few times, but I couldn't be sure.

I wonder why they didn't retire her. They retired Dolores' first Father after he seemed to become aware. I guess that's probably just a slight inconsistency in the story telling.


Interestingly, all the hosts who appear to have gained some sort of self-awareness appear to be old, perhaps created by Arnold. I'm guessing that at some point memories of these mechanical hosts were transferred to the modern flesh and blood versions.

For me, Maeve is the most engaging and interesting character.

Dolores is beginning to annoy me now.

It's brief but it happens at approximately 36:40 in -

Bernard: "One last thing, have you ever made me hurt anyone like this before?"
Ford: "No Bernard, of course not"

Bernard then looks thoughtful and we see a flashback of dangling legs, then Elsie's face struggling for breath as she's constricted from behind by Bernard, who looks disconnected and trance-like.

I saw the scene, but I couldn't be sure it was her. With all the twists and turns I wondered if we're meant to think it is her, but it's someone else.

No she was strangled an unknown time later.

She is transferring data onto her tablet and hears a noise, the first thing she thinks is that Bernard might be in the room so obviously enough time has passed since the phone call for (in her opinion) Bernard to get to the theatre from the main complex.




MiB is almost certainly William (still a slight chance it's Logan).


One slight inconsistency if I'm remembering things correctly. The MiB says it was only last year that he killed Maeve and her Daughter yet didn't the Tech tell Maeve she'd been in the Madam role for a few years (rather than the 10+ she thought).


They are still using the image of the Greeter in the modern Westworld adverts which the MiB would no doubt have seen but I suppose it may well have been a few years since he last met the actual Host with that face.

Literally just rewatched Bernard's flashback,I dont know if it was Elsie for certain.

He says "No. You've only been the Madam at the Mariposa for last past year or so" at about twenty-two and half minutes in to episode 6, so that seems to fit.

I wonder if Maeve can control Barnard as she can other hosts.

The hair looks different to me. Elsie has dark brown hair. The woman being strangled appears to have a flash of blond or grey in her hair.

Charlotte better wise up and take a different tack than Teresa. They have not really showed us everything that happened with Elsie. Just snippets and implied hints. So it makes me wonder if there may be more to it. Ford would have to explain her disappearance and coming on the heels of Teresa's "accident" it would certainly raise the alarm.

Also just realised that Rebecca from Banshee was Clementine's replacement.

It's just the light from the dropped Torch making her hair look lighter (it does the same to her trousers).

Which is why it's probably a replacement Elsie that Ford is constructing. He's got Bernard to give her some time off so he can get his copy finished.

About the only thing I am certain of in this episode is that it is Elsie he is strangling ...

One thing I have found is that since the reveal of Bernard being a host he has pretty much become a different character not the Bernard of the previous episodes. Whether it is bad acting, poor script (doubtful with this sort of attention to detail) or far more significant than that (as I suspect) I guess we will find out in the next few episodes.

Still can't really make head nor tail of this whole MIB, Teddy, Dolores and Wyatt tale. MIB discovering that Maeve was sentient doesn't seem to fit in with what we have seen before but his end goal seems to be simply to set some of the hosts free ...

I would say this episode whilst providing a few answers has opened up a can of worms on a whole lot more, it sure is a great mystery of a show.

I assume the first point there is Bernard's conversation with the security guy where he denies his relationship with Teresa. I thought this was a bad idea when ford mentioned wiping his memory of it. Although if he was left to grieve then that might also make him a suspect as well. Anyway security guard s suspicious now along with how Bernard reacted to the questions about Elise. I suspect that if Elise is replaced with a robot then the security guy will know it's not the real one.

As for the mib and maeve story, I'm surprised that the mib put so much belief in him being a bad man by being able to "kill" some robots in a homestead. Granted they are in the image of mother and child and it's more real than a video game, but still they were just robots to him at that point. Will be interesting for maeve to meet the mib.

It seems that way. When Dolores first saw the town it looked new and I think that is in the present and it's been dug out and cleaned up. I think in the present she's travelling alone and that is why she keeps seeing people disappear. Then we went back to before the park opened and the hosts were being trained. Then in between we see her having travelled the same route with William in tow when the town had been buried. I think I've got that in the correct order. The latest episode even started to confuse me when I've kept up with it before then. A lot of flashbacks in this show.

In which case (if it was a memory and not an out right hallucination) the body of Dolores in the river is likely what happens to her in the William Time Period (though it's of course possible that she's traveled this route more than the Three times we have (or think we have) seen).




Apart from Lawrence's daughter I noticed Maeve and the Greeter (I've seen the name Angela given to her online, not sure if the show mentioned it or not) were amongst the original inhabitants of the First Town.

Was any other known Host spotted in the crowd/dance scene?

We know Clementine (original one) was in the park 30 years before but was she actually there from the start?

I also got the impression that Arnold's original vision of the park was a lot more tame than what it has become. More Barn Dance than Gun fights every five minutes.

They've now woke him up again though, so who knows what's going to happen then.

I'm thinking the same, if it's not I just can't understand why MIB can wander round at will and unmonitored.

So those people arriving at the end were not dressed as cowboys and appeared to be wielding swords. The MIB mentioned other worlds in his monologue. Could these be invaders from Medieval World as in the original film?
