This begs an interesting question.

I wonder what the first live TV programme from the UK seen in Gibraltar was?

The 1966 world cup was transmitted across Europe of course but it would only have been possible to pick it up off air from Spain.
Eh ? Who was suggesting that was an option ?
Suggest you read some of the previous posts - Gib TV could have had UK programmes in the 1960s by microwave but TVE would not allow it for purely political reasons.

Did Morocco allow the Spanish colonies on the coast to be fed by microwave thjrough their territory or was it possible direct from Spain?

There was a direct microwave link from Spain into north Africa. In the 50s,60s and into the 70s all Eurovision traffic went by microwave. The BBC completed a permanent two-way link with France via Dover in September 1955.

That wasn't my question, yes I know satellite distribution has been suggested in this thread, my question was who suggested Telstar was an option ?

Here's the post again with your quote in context

I have family contacts in Gibraltar and a friend of the family run GBC for a number of years.

If you email GBC with your questions they would be happy to assist with your project.

No, the other way round, nearer to the equator so the satellite's elevation is higher.
OK, happy to stand corrected!
