Couldn't agree more on every point .
All the prolonged explanations and reminding that her fee goes to charity won't make the whole Sunday night messy scenario look any less dodgy and just wrong .
I can't stand the fact she is donating her fee to charity continually being mentioned and has put me off Anastacia. How do we know that other contestants aren't doing the same thing but have chosen not to make it public, it feels like emotional blackmail. I still say she was selfish for not withdrawing when she couldn't do the dance off so I won't be supporting her.

So now Breast Cancer has completely taken over a light entertainment show. This may well have been the agenda all along.
Strictly has always been associated with various charities I believe.

I don't think that's the case now and would be interested to hear which charities benefit from the programme?

Benefitting from a charitable donation is one thing
A documentary about Breast Cancer is another
Hijacking a light entertainment show is quite different.

Wasn't it originally associated with Children in Need?

Sorry to be thick, but do you mean 'stay one month or less' and get £25k, or do you get least if you go first? I hadn't thought of this decision actually taking money from Melvin.
Payment will start at Launch show, so everyone will be in for 4 weeks.

Sports relief was series one, then CIN from series 2 through to series 4? Or 5? - now any residual monies from the phone voting goes to Charity.

Thank you for clarifying.

Just Googled, profits from phone votes from series 1 went to Sports Relief, then to Children in Need from series 2-5.

A VW should be relatively safe for her.

She might even give Pamela Stephenson a run for her money ...

They get paid more if they stay in longer. (It is probably not a coincidence that this change was made after a series where their most expensive booking got eliminated first, by the by.)
Wasn't there a lot of conspiracy theories last year over Peter Andre's pay to? How his PR firm got him more than the others?

I'm sorry to say I am one of the 'horrible' people who doesn't buy her injury and think it was injured pride of being in the dance off that stopped her danceing on Sunady.

Maybe she was sore, but from what I saw of her on Saturday night, the way she threw her arm up when it wasn't needed, the way she danced with Claudia afterwards, this was not someone in severe amounts of pain, and I have a lot of experience with chronic, severe any type of pain going.

There is no way that if she was so very injured she would already be working on the VW, of it was too dangerous for her to dance on Saturday. She could have danced with her arm by her side.

I don't know.

I wish her well on her health, I really do, I admire her and everything she has done, but I just feel something is off here.

I'm not so sure. A VW requires a stiff posture, straight back, raised arms all the time and lots of spins. All of that will put tremendous strain on the exact region of her body where this tear has happened. Pain killers aside, she could do irreparable harm to herself if she goes through a week of training for that dance then the performance Saturday. Just look how much pain Danny was in with his VW and he is young and fit!

This isn't true. The celebrities get paid more depending on how far they make it into the competition.
Yes, and Anasatacia has apparently stated that she has friends sponsoring her who will donate more money the longer she stays on the show.

Oh, terrific. We'd better keep her in till the end then as this is obviously Strictly Come Breast Cancer

If they had announced they were getting rid of the DO for the entire series no one would be moaning. If no other contestant was going to get a second chance to save themselves in the DO that would be fine, but if Melvin is the only one who doesn't get that chance it's not exactly fair.
Precisely. Its not about whether or not we voted for Melvin, in fact the person who was eliminated is largely irrelevant. The point is that one contestant did not get the same chance to fight for their place that all others will.

Maybe now Anastacia has been reassured that she can dance and is no longer too scared, she should perform last week's routine again in a dance-off scenario with Melvin doing likewise?

That would just be silly. The Producers should have just deferred the dance off to a double elimination this week. Mind so many have said how unfair the dance off is and how the judges manipulate it, you would think people would be delighted the public chose the outcome.

"She is doing this to raise money for breast cancer
When you've sold 80 million records, you don't 'need' the 70k or whatever has been floated for doing Strictly.
But think of all the women's magazine covers you could get if you make waves in the competition. That's the kind of publicity that's hard to buy.
Some people think successful showbiz people don't need more publicity. They're usually the same people that think showbiz people will retire when they get old.
¯\_(ツ)_/¯

It certainly seems that way.

General though, not attached, emotionally, and with added drama, to ONE contestant.

Well exactly.

I wish her well, but I'm not comfortable with any of this. It isn't some telethon and neither should Anastacia's story' dominate.

It's about dancing and fun. And the less it feels like this is what Strictly is, the less I want to see it.

How so?

It's dominating the board but doesn't appear to be dominating the programme.
