I watch ITV far more than the BBC at the moment and even Dr Who is not un-touchable. When up against the last in the series of Ant and Decs Saturday Takeaway, DR Who was THRASHED - a fact conspicuous by its absence from the Digital Spy ratings round-up archive. |

Hmmm, how to beat a popular sci-fi show, which nearly everyone who considers themself a sci-fi fan watches? I know! Let's put on a (pretty bad) sci-fi film, that everyone has seen, and most sci-fi fans have on DVD, anyway. That'll work, won't it? Oh, Lordy

Why are people, that watch Docto Who, so concerned about what is on ITV at the same time
Presumably you will be watching Doctor Who so why do you care what is on the other channels?

The concern is that the people who dont have this attitude of superiority over Doctor Who. They dont enjoy or watch it and seem to think others should not.
And they are genuinely intrested in the level other channels will go to to try and pull the ratings back, at the end of the day we all like TV or we would not be posting here. Many like Doctor Who as have done for 40+ years, but i'm sure even Doctor Who fans would like to see ITV's performance improve. Some people in the country are forced to only have 5 channels some only 4 I think they have the right to demand better things of there television as do we all. Saturday night is ruled by the likes of Doctor Who and Casualty. It would be nice for those that dont to have something they do enjoy watching instead of crap reality shows or pitiful documentaries. |

I admit Dr. Who is a good programme but the rest of BBC1's Saturday night line up needs improving Seems to me the BBC can do no wrong in some peoples eyes |

Exactly what would you like to see on the BBC, I made no reference to the BBC at all in my post, so its hardly a matter of not doing any wrong |

ITV= Thickyvision. (ahem .. Celebrity Love Island?!?!)
As a lifelong Dr Who fan, I freely admit to being interested in ITV's ratings for its progs opposite Dr Who. In the past, a falling or low audience was one of the reasons Dr Who originally fell from favour with the BBC. At the end of its original run, BBC1 scheduled it starting five minutes after Coronation Street, and then axed Dr Who because of miniscule ratings. DW fans will always be conscious of "the opposition" after that debacle! chuff.x. Last edited by chuffnobbler : 13-05-2005 at 12:21. Reason: lost consonant |

I wonder how long it will be before ITV create Celebrity Blow Job in which they gather 10 z list celebs together on the side of a mountain.
The first to discover exactly what one is then viewrs vote weekly who gave the worst one and evict them. No doubt Jeff Brazier, James Hewitt, Jade Goody and Kate Lawler would be involved. With Jade view its something to do with flying off the mountain, once she has worked out what a mountain is and how it got there. "is it a pile of unwanted rocks?" Oh Maybe they have created this it may turn out to be love island! Last edited by romanwinecow : 13-05-2005 at 12:55. |

ITV seem to have abandoned Saturday nights totally. We need a mix of 30min and 1 hour comedy and drama with limited/no news. Saturday night TV needs to be an event for those of us stuck in with kiddies (not complaining about that). With DVD's and dedicated movie channels I cannot believe ITV still have the balls to chop movies with news! Either show a movie end to end or dont chuffing bother. DrWho is damn good TV and damn good scheduling end of story. But what do we do from 7:45 and once DW's run is finished. DVD shop or bed!

I hardly think 1 reality dancing programme compares to the en mass reality programme market the ITV offers each week.
And yes that is my opinion hense this being a forum, for opinions. But for the record lets look at primetime ITV viewing this coming week, see if you can see a continuing theme Saturday Hit me baby one more time Celebrity Wrestling Celebrity Stitch up Hit me baby one more time results who wants to be a millionaire Sunday Emmerdale Coronation Street Heartbeat William and mary Monday Emmerdale Corry New Homes or old corry Celeb Love island Tuesday Regional shows Deep Jungle Bad Girls Celeb Love Island Wed Emmerdale Corry The Bill Elvis by the presleys Celeb Love Island Thurs Emerdale Regional The Bill Footballers wives Celeb Love Island Fri Emmerdale Corry New Homes or old Airline Celeb Love Island Say what you like about the BBC at least the only show they ram down our throats is the 4 times a week showing of Eastenders. Not a nightly bought of the same dross or variations of dross |

Well I believe last time PM was shown on itv it got 3.8M viewers, next to 7.5M for the last ep of who.
And I can't see PM being a big draw anyroad, most have a negative opinion of it these days. ITV have thrown in the towel imo. |

I guess the big deal being is that with the exception of a 4th or 6th showing of a soap opera the ITV can find nothing to put up against Doctor Who except the Star Wars films which they only showed just over 4 months ago.
