Why not eliminate on judges' scores?

What's done is done for this week & I do feel for Anastacia & can see why she is so desperate to carry on, but I do hope this isn't going to keep on happening throughout the series if she is able to carry on!!
This is really something she needs to be very careful with, though I'm sure she doesn't need me to tell her that, but it is so easily done, even when not doing unnatural exercises & activities!!

This will not be fair because the judges tend to overmark some celebrities while undermarking others. So someone could get eliminated on a low score that he /she didn't really deserve. For example , I thought they overmarked Anastasia on week 1.

The current format works imo.

Such is SCD fandom.

"It's not fair the judges have the final say! Austin wuz robbed because they kept voting in their pet Lisa!"

"It's not fair the public have the final say! Melvin wuz robbed because he didn't get a chance to have the judges save him!"

No, because of her attitude. Even in week 1 she came across as full of herself

I've heard that the votes had to be recounted because there was thought to be a tie.

Interesting if true

But there wasn't a tie. End of story.

If they elimenated on judges votes then the public vote would be worthless and they would have to refund everyone that voted for the two couples.

I've heard that Melvin actually quit because he was booked to speak on a lucrative series of ferry cruises and this is all a cover up.

Interesting if true

Yet in effect, this is what the dance off does.

And you know that how exactly? It may have been so close that they were miscounted and it looked like a tie.

It's not good saying it was impossible that there was a tie because it's not impossible

One tweet to Patric Foster claimed Melvin had half the public votes that Anastacia did. So who knows?

That's still not a tie, though

Is Anastacia really that much more popular than Melvin? He was much closer to the bottom of the leader board than her yet still ended up in the dance off. If you read social media she didn't even seem that popular before the fiasco but is even less so now. In fact I am actually surprised how many people say they had never heard of her (even Americans saying that).

I did know of her beforehand and liked her although she has gone down a lot in my estimation. I didn't know Melvin but thought he seemed a nice, genuine person who, I think, given a chance would have grown on the public”

Its hardly her fault. She doesn't make the rules, which for what its worth I think are quite reasonable. In the event of a problem, which means the dance of can't be used to separate the bottom two, then the only logical solutions are to either get the judges to choose or to use public popularity. On balance. popularity makes the most sense how ever you slice or dice it.

I hope she doesn't go this weekend as she's not getting the regular fee for Strickly. She is however giving it to a breast cancer charity. The longer she stays the more she earns for the charity!

She could afford to give them the money. It's not as if she needs to risk further injury or discomfort. Much of the appeal of this programme is that they get a lot of free publicity, so it's not entirely an altruistic gesture..
