It's about time
It's a great show

The early episodes are a bit naff imo. The pilot does the show no justice and i was very close to dropping it. But around episode 7 or 8, the show really finds it's footing.

No. Nothing like the goldbergs. The goldbergs is very innocent and easy going. Blackish deals with things in an honest and open way. The main theme of Black-ish is addressing but making fun of the stereotypical things of being black.

I can foresee a certain joke (in one episode) that included a reference to the IRA and the mock justifying of "blowing up a few fish and chip shops" not going down particularly well in the UK.

It's on every night this week at 7.30pm which seems strange.

Well the UK are two seasons behind so they will want to whizz through and catch up to season 3. They did the same with The Goldbergs

My Sky box was set to start recording the show on Saturday at 11.30am. I thought what a weird time to start airing a new show until I double checked that all 5 episodes are repeated on Saturday from 11.30am.

I remember being in America when this show started and there were posters everywhere for it. The critics poo poo'd it at the time. I guess viewers preferred it more than the critics did.

I've got this set up to record. Don't know a huge amount about it, but i'll give it a whirl as i haven't seen any good new sitcoms in forever.

From what I remember they also did the same with How I Met Your Mother – daily episodes at 7:30pm to whizz through the seasons that had already aired on Trouble, and then maybe another season or two to bring them to US pace, before giving it a weekly primetime slot.

The lead character is super annoying. The cute kids are the only amusing part of this show. Otherwise it's pretty unfunny.

As i said a few posts above, the pilot does the show no justice and it really isn't until around episode 8 that the show finds it's self. If you can stick around until then, i personally think you are well rewarded with what does become a great quality comedy series.

Funnily enough, I felt exactly the same last night when I watched the pilot. I like Anthony Anderson anyway, and he was pretty good in it and I like the overall premise.

And, as you say, if it does get better as others have said, all the better for it.

I quite like it too. Its far from perfect, but I think it'll do alright once the first few episodes are under their belt (E4 that is).

As others have mentioned, its in a ridiculous time slot - just like Babby Daddy (whose time slot its took). Some of the jokes will have to be cut. Why not show it at 20:30 or 21:00?

I think it's pretty funny although it does remind me a bit of The Bernie Mac Show which C4 showed many years ago. The bit where Dre was asking those lads at the Bus stop if they wanted get into his car as he was looking for some young boys, did make me laugh even though it's an old joke.

It reminds me of Everybody Hates Chris. Especially the voiceover.

^Ah yes. It has a bit of Everybody Hates Chris about it. As well as the aforementioned The Goldbergs (another one with a v/o).

It also has a hint of Modern Family about it. Not in the format, but in the wit. In fact I could see these characters making a cameo/crossover on Modern Family.

The show actually reminds me of a Norman Lear sitcom, if he was still doing sitcoms today but as multi camera comedies. Quite a few of the discussions regarding stereotypes of being black are reminiscent to the early episodes of The Jeffersons. As well as many elements of another Norman Lear sitcom called Good Times, which is actually parodied in one episode in season 2.

Have to say that some of my favourite parts of the show are those that occur in the Office. Some of the conversations in the meeting-room are some of the most racist you'll see on modern TV

It's growing on me. The Halloween episode was very funny. The twins are adorable. The look on the little lads face when he pranks his parents is hilarious.
