Rod Temperton RIP

Sad news, just lost his battle with cancer

Many believe, along with Quincy Jones, revived Michael Jackson's career. He was a great songwriter with some brilliant tunes, in an era where British attempts at disco were very poor.

A truly great songwriter. RIP.

That said, what on earth was a man from Cleethorpes thinking when he wrote Yah Mo B There? Is it some weird northern expression, like On Ilkla Moor Baht 'at?

Such a talented guy and what a career. He just oozed creativity.

If I drew up a top 50 list of my favourite music tracks I'm sure that a large percentage will have been written by Rod Temperton.

RIP Rod

Incredibly sad news.

Rod penned some of my very favourite tracks from my youth. Such a quiet unassuming guy with such a huge talent.

RIP

With losing Kashif last week and Rod this week, thats some big song writer/producer talent we've lost.

2016 continues being the worst year ever for loss of true talent

This x10

Proof that with all the talent we'd lost so far, 2016 hadn't even done its worst. Didn't know he was ill.

Legend. May he rest in peace.

It was only last week that I found out that Temperton also wrote Give Me The Night and Love x Love for George Benson. What a talent he was.
Why wasn't he a MBE at the very least?
RIP sir.

Two of my favourite GB tracks, but Rod also wrote this lesser known track which I have always adored and never realised was written by him: Star of a Story.

I wonder about the MBE - he was a shy retiring type so maybe he just didn't want the fuss. He so deserved some kind of honour though.

RIP Rod "The Invisible Man" - one of the best songwriters the UK has produced yet largely unrecognised in this country.

I think he was well-known as the songwriter behind Off The Wall, Thriller etc back in the 80s. I remember reading about him back in the day.

his name was well recognised. Anyone familiar with the story of Thriller knows the name for a start. Newsnight even gave him a tribute last night

Sad news RIP Rod. Didn't know he wrote YMBT. I love how all these great American R and B songs were written by a man from Cleethorpes. Such a great talent.

Agree Blondie, one of my favs.

Rod was sat next to Quincy at The Quincy Jones Prom shown live on BBC4 just a few weeks back, the orchestra did a stunning version of Stomp.
