Hi all,
This is probably an easy / stupid ques but I cant figure it out. I keep all my mp3 music files on a usb drive cos then I can plug it into phone / tablet / laptop etc, whatever I'm using. Ive got Samsung S6 - when I plug it into the phone the usb drive opens and I see the mp3s. But I have to click each individual track to play them. Is there any way I can play the whole album without pressing each track to play or without downloading it all to my phone?
Thx Pete

How are you viewing / playing the mp3 files on the S6? Are you using a music player app? If so which one?

Thx for your reply gomezz. I use the music player that came pre-installed on the S6. But when you plug in the usb drive, it opens it and shows what is there. Then to play a track I have to click on it and listen, then select the next one etc etc etc. There must be an easier way?

How are the mp3 file organised on the USB drive? One sub-folder per album or what?

Yes - sub folders. But these folders Ive made myself. So eg if I didnt like all the songs on the album, I would just make a folder with the artist name and put in the songs I liked.
Thx Pete

All I can think is to try a few other music player apps.

Sorry no. I use a Rockboxed Sansa Clip+ as my main portable music player.

When you say it opens it, do you mean it opens the music app or a different app like a file explorer app?

Can you not close the file explorer type app and just open the music player app?

Upload your music in the cloud, e.g Google Music, and you can play it seamlessly on all your devices. I did not want to overload my iPad with mp3 music, so I used Google Music and it works flawlessly.

Not sure what app your usb opens but in File Explorer you can hold on a folder (filled with mp3 files) until the tick comes up then select 'Play' from the menu and it will play all the files in that folder. Or you can go into the folder and select on several mp3 files at once then select 'Play' from the menu and it will play all the files you have selected.

Can you check to see if whatever usb app your phones has this option. If not you can download and try File Explorer or something similar.

Thanks don't be hasty. I tried that but still no good. When you select the folder all you get is move copy rename etc no play option.

Thanks davor. I might try the cloud route

Did you try using the ES File Explorer File Manager app?

https://play.google.com/store/apps/d...roid.pop&hl=en

My USB isn't supported on my HTC10 so i can't test it but it gave the play option for the music i have on my SD Card.
