I am watching The Wright Stuff and the guy who discusses the Week's Tv, Kevin Sullivan I think his name is, said he agrees that the rules are made up as they go along, he also thought that the injured party should have left and he said that he knows for certain that Melvin was very upset at having to leave on Saturday. He also said that Kevin was very dignified on the night.

He made a comment that he really hopes the Beeb doesn't go down the XF route which it seems to be doing at the moment.

What, on the night? Being wheeled into E&R, scanned and declared unfit to dance? Inbetween the main show and the recording of the results show? No, I don't think that could have happened.

I think the doctor that told her not to dance on Friday would have given her one. Do you really believe that the Beeb would not have let her leave with her history?

I don't believe for a moment that the BBC is lying when they say the rule was already in place.

It's not exactly outlandish to imagine the possibility that a celeb injures themselves during their routine and is unable to take part in the dance off.

Yes, I agree the whole Bruno angle could be absolutely anything, we'll never know.

However your take on the ruling is a little skewed. Your absolutely correct that if hurt during training they take a weeks bye rather than risk making the injury worse on the night. That's just common sense. But, and this is a big but, the 'made up' ruling only had to come into effect because although injured during training and told not to dance she still went ahead and did it. That is not disputed by anyone as Anastacia told us that on camera. That is in no way consistent with the first rule of giving a bye.

Plus at the end of the Saturday night dance she wasn't suffering more than she had at the start of the dance however when she was in the bottom two and called over to Tess she quite openly stated she didn't want to dance again in the DO in case she might hurt herself further ... why hadn't that entered her head before the main dance where she could of hurt herself further? Before she had Brendan choreograph an entirely different dance for her? Why didn't she think of that when they told her on Friday not to dance at all. THAT is why so many people are mad at her, she used it to get out of the DO when she had been more than happy to dance in the main show before she knew she was in the bottom two and suffered no further injury at that time.

I see it more relaxed, I'd say. As far as they don't twist contestant's arm into making a decision I am happy.

You can't dance because you hurt yourself.

1. let public vote decide, I am fine with it.
2. you will have to leave, I am fine with that, too.
3. You'll have to do it or you are out, I do not like this one at all.

Now they also created a precedent and will have to follow it in the future.

Yep, they have made a rod for their own backs with that decision. I don't think anyone would try to twist Anastacia's arm, LOL, she would take their heads off In my honest opinion she could of danced again, but hadn't even considered she would have to, she never thought in her wildest dreams she would be in the bottom two and it totally shook her up and caused this mess. Right now we are in limbo as to her injury, even Brendan doesn't seem to know what will happen week to week, he has to choreograph adjustments in as he goes along, he must be in hell with that. But my underlying thought is if she was fit enough to dance on the main show, and the results show is taped right after, then she was fit enough to do the DO. Its very black and white for me <shrugs> Despite what some of her defenders and fans keep throwing up about her charity and how she is fighting through it and how people should give her a break due to everything she has been through, etc, etc, etc. None of it changes the facts as we know them from the night.

Y'see, I can see it a bit differently - I can see a situation where the focus was to get out a performance on the actual show. That was the first thing and the dance off a bridge to be crossed if or when it came to it.

I can see that after the actual show that the injury played up and there wasn't enough time between one show and the other in real time. If it had been in Strictly time and held on the day after, it might have been different. Anyone who has done any sport with a muscle injury anywhere know how it can tighten and play up after you've got through the event.

To be honest, I don't really think 'poor Brendan'. He is the pro and it is up to him to pitch the routines at the abilities of his celeb. It can't be any worse than Claire King and her rheumatoid arthritis restrictions.

I guess it's just how you look at things.

I think a lot of posters have called it right when they say that what threw a spanner in the works is that Anastacia never, ever thought she would be in the dance-off. You could see the total shock on her face - what ME? And she had probably experienced pain and discomfort in the first dance and then thought, no way am I doing that again. And that threw the BEEB - and so it went on, all while they are trying to get a show out.

They (the beeb) can huff and puff and bluster till the coos come home , but most of us aren't stupid little sheep .
I looked at Melvin as one the few genuinely "on a journey" contestants and yet any potential for improvement by him was snatched from under his feet , literally . Just to placate the big Name . Deeply unfair .

It's all about ratings.

The BBC are desperately chasing a younger audience, to replace the older ones.
Hence the naff music sometimes chosen and silly lighting effects.
Anastasia represents (or so they think) the demographic they are chasing.
Can't have her going out as the first elimination, if there's a way of keeping her in.
Especially if she threw "the reported strop" about being in a dance-off.

Far better that "whats his face" went out.
Wouldn't be surprised if she went out this week.

I find him annoying, why does he need to stand and wave his arms about like a 'jester'. Can't take him seriously. If I record the programme I 'silent' it when it comes to his opinion. Also finding Len a bit of a grump now, glad he is going.

I think they are encouraged to be "entertaining."
They've all got different ideas of how that should manifest itself.
The three men are all in competition with each other. This sometimes affects the marking.

What amuses me as I've mentioned before, is "the carefully rehearsed spontaneity with remarks including elements of alliteration and onomatopoeia."

None of them are bright enough to come out with such off the cuff remarks. ('cept Claudia).

I believe they see the final rehearsals of each couple. So they've plenty of time to think about what they are going to say.

Len doesn't even have to be original.
He came up with his various "witty" comments years ago and just recycles them.
I've lost count of how many times he's used the "put the boy in Flamboyant" line

I wouldn't know as I don't watch DWS, but it's been said on here, he uses the same remarks sometimes, about different couples on both programmes.

It does make you think about the truth of anything the alleged backstage "insider" posts.

Do the BBC not realise that younger people grow up and the naturally form the audiences of the future?

As for chasing a younger audience, I don't think Anastacia is in that vibe, Taylor Swift, maybe, but Anastacia hasn't been mainstream for years.
