Hollyoaks - Leah Barnes' Axed Storyline (MAY contain spoilers)
I remember last year when it was confirmed that Hollyoaks had axed a storyline where Leah Barnes killed her grandmother Kathy this year. I don't recall a discussion on this, so was just wondering how people would have felt about it / their thoughts and opinions, and whether or not it was right that the storyline was axed.
NOTE - I know it's not really a spoiler as it's been axed, but I know some people like to moan, so I put a warning in the title. http://www.entertainmentoverdose.co.uk/hollyoaks-leah-murder-storyline-axed/ |

Little sweet Leah?
Have you got a link to this confirmation? How was she going to kill her? Was it gonna be a bobby job? |

Leah killing her Grandmother Kathy who we dont see as she was written out of show
Would this have been done off screen and we then see her acting like nothing has happened |

On the subject of little Leah, whatever happened with that storyline where her biological father (now plays Ross on Emmerdale) turned up and wanted custody back in 2012? I can't remember how it ended.

Could've been interesting.... possibly.
I'm not sure that not having the same actress would've been a huge problem. I have been watching for about ten years now and do remember the original, but I wouldn't be unwelcoming of a recast if it was for the story, on the proviso that she had enough screen time for viewers to accept her as Kathy. Also, I would imagine that since she was last in it, Hollyoaks have picked up a lot of new viewers who wouldn't know the difference anyway. It seems very drastic for me that Leah would kill her for being homophobic towards Ste alone. I would hope that they would've shown a build up of other nasty behaviour, as well as the homophobia before I'd be convinced that a child who has no history of violence would be pushed that far. We've also seen recently that Leah has been referring to her life with Amy and Ryan as "normal". Could it be possible that she's been bullied at school over Ste's relationships? I would find it interesting to see how something like that would progress. She would be bullied at school over it and now, her Grandmother is saying cruel things too. A combination of this could just have caused her to snap. I don't imagine it would've been a malicious pre-meditated attack, moreover, she just lost her cool over the comments about her father and lashed out with terrible consequences. Although, the writers would probably have had to face comparisons with Eastenders where a young boy killed his sister a few years ago. |

Although, the writers would probably have had to face comparisons with Eastenders where a young boy killed his sister a few years ago. What with Nico and Cameron still about, I'm not sure how Leah's storyline would have fitted in, but I agree it could have been interesting, albeit the comparisons to Bobby Killed Lucy. I also think there would have been a bit more build up, possibly with bullying at school, or her witnessing someone bullying Ste. I'm not sure how a 9 year old would have purposely killed a woman, so I'd imagine it'd be a random attack (or it would have been interesting if, as an example, Kathy was ill and Amy was caring for her, hence why Leah had the strength). I guess we'll never know though

I'm sure I read somewhere that Leah was going to electrocute Kathy in the bath?

For Leah, or a child to deliberately kill somebody or attempt to harm them resulting in their death then no thanks.
For Leah to cause an accident leading to somebody's death but with no malicious intent then that could be interesting but on balance I don't think I'd want it. We've been there with Nico and the young Lindsey recently so I don't think the timing would be particularly good.. |

I've long suspected that Leah has it in her to kill. It was only a matter of time. She's probably
get a kick out of it and all. Thanks. |

I seriously question the judgment of TPTB at Hollyoaks. I do not want to see that, and if I was Ela-May's mother, I would have said no.

They should bring back Kathy she was hilarious. She made a brilliant baddie, she was completely bonkers. Especially now Amy and Mike are back, along with Ste, the kids and Amy's new fella, Kathy's return would complete the Barnes family.

I find it strange how he turned up once maybe twice demanding custody but afterwards was never seen or even mentioned again, its like the writers just want everyone to believe Ste is her father and thats it

He was just brought in as excuse to get Ste to want to go with the kids and Doug to America, because helping his husband look after his sick father wasn't a good enough reason for Ste, it had to be about him, like everything does.

I think amy *slept* with the father of her child for a swig of a bottle of cider in the park.

He is not her biological father but he has always acted as her father and thinks of her as his own child. He is Lucas's biological father.

Wasn't Amy pregnant with Leah when she was dating Josh Ashworth or was that after?
