why do you think they keep re-using the same songs if they dont think its what people want to hear ?

I have no idea.

The fact that ratings have fallen every year for a few years suggests they are doing something wrong though. The audience aren't geriatrics who only recognise huge 80's hits.

my personal theory is they see the success SCD has with mainly well known songs used for the dances and therefore assume that is the style of music people want to hear

i would love to hear better variety when it comes to song choices, i just have an issue when the use of themes are always blamed when there is no reason they cant continue to use the sort of themes we saw last year, that help give the show structure, and still allow acts to sing songs more suited to their preferred style/genre

as i said earlier as well when they do use a theme like the 80s, there are loads of great songs from that era but we always end up with the same cheesy school disco type songs. we see all the time modern bands/artists do really good covers of older songs, and i dont see any reason why a show like the X factor shouldn't use older songs as long as they suit the act, it still comes down to picking the right song, something the show imo is exceptionally bad at doing.

Divas!? Really!? Do we not get enough of their songs on this show without a theme being given out to them?

And on the song choices front I think that this show needs to be much more daring.

Not only should they be having more modern songs to select from, the show also should have a few wildcard song choices that are unknown to the masses and try to launch those songs and see how they go down with the audience.

Kind of like how Lauren Murray launched You Don't Own Me last year as even the original version wasn't that big.

It will be fixed , and Louis will be camp classics like ymca , your disco needs you etc to suit the two tin foil boys

lauren murray didn't relaunch "you dont own me" last year

it had already been getting used on the debenhams xmas advert via the cover by an australian act called Grace and been a #1 in australia and top ten in the UK

if it hadn't already had a serious amount of airtime via the debenhams ad then i doubt very much it would ever have been used by XF

I'd been wondering what the chicken boys would sing - not sure about YMCA, but Rhydian did 'Go West' so they might recycle that

Sounds crap in my opinion....

Easily possible to rig...and they probably will. Everything from the jukebox to the hats Brooks Way wear will be rigged and pre determined to Cowell's liking.

Public vote each week please, that way we can finally have the Girls Aloud week we were promised, yes pet?

This will end up being dropped quicker than you can say "Flash Vote". I give it 3 weeks, as week 4 is Halloween.

Agree though with what Ozzy said earlier - the themes need to be dropped. It's fine to throw them in a couple of times a series just to keep things fresh and throw people out of their comfort zone but really the show should be about developing talent into the artists they want to be, not a jack of all trades, master of none.

Sadly though over the last couple of years the show does seem to gone back to having a very generic final 12 compared to a few years back when you had much more individual artists like James Arthur and Ella Henderson.

The themes will be chosen by the producers. The jukebox is just another gimmick.

Grace's version was barely in the top 40 until Lauren performed it last year.

And the original version isn't exactly considered a classic even by the fans of more retro Music.

it had been getting airtime for weeks on the debenhams advert before it was used on XF and i repeat i doubt it would have ever been used on XF if it hadn't already been in the public domain from that advert, so no lauren did not "launch" the song

and afaik it was also used on the australian version of XF before she sang it

Not sure about this, still rubbish themes tbh. Why can they not have different themes such as Acoustic week or 90s week?

Like people have said they will keep having the same songs every time.

If they insist on doing themes, it would be good if they could bring back celebrity guest mentors like the did in 2009. Judges houses was refreshing having new people give us their opinion. I liked Calvin and the spice girls (even though we have seen a lot of them in this show already).

Ooooh - I wonder if for Halloween the jukebox just happens to land on 'fright night' ? This is more transparent than Nicole's costumes, just another pathetic attempt to introduce 'newness'. Like they do not have all the performances planned well in advance - do they expect us to believe they only start on Monday to arrange all the songs, choreograph the dances and record the backing tracks ???

After hearing tonight's show I think they should opt for a Simon & Garfunkel theme...aka...The Sound of Silence

The themes are still the same old crap we have every year so nothing will change.

Why have the included Fright Night on this 'random' Jukebox then? Surely they are not going to do a Halloween themed night on any random Saturday. Notice how Emily went off script on Xtra Factor by saying that they should not expect the song "they" give you on a Monday to stay the same - so much for Express Yourself week.
