Is Will in danger of becoming "The Forgotten Man" of Strictly 2016?

Will Young's signing to the 'Class of 2016' was obviously regarded as a major coup by the Strictly producers and was, in the main, warmly received by the general public. His was one of the biggest names on board.

Nearly six weeks on, however, Will is increasingly becoming 'The Invisible Man' of the series. For one reason or another, every other celeb male is either grabbing the headlines, or dominating the forums and the wider social media. Here's a quick rundown:

Danny - his exceptional dance ability
Ed - that amazing Charleston effort and sheer refusal to be the resident duffer
Greg - his bootylicious arse
Melvin - first boot and Anastacia-gate
Ore - his hammy approach and for not be as good as expected
Rinder - his OTT-ness

The best angle I can come up with for Will is his (very deliberate & unfunny) ridiculous training 'outfits'.

I think its very telling when every time I do a poll (few times then!!!!), I can list every celeb off the top of my head but almost ALWAYS have to refer to an official list to remind me of the one celeb I have forgotten...guess who???

Even the pro males are being talked about more than him fgs!!!

At this stage I think he will have to perform a really "wow" dance to get himself noticed and 'out there'. Something tells me he will not sail through and collect the Glitterball on his name alone.

C'mon Will & Karen - get your act together!

I agree, I find him a bit forgettable, but I suspect he'll make it far because of how popular he is.

I doubt very much that Will would want to sail through and get the glitterball on his name alone. He said in an interview that he just wants to learn as much as he can and do his best whatever position that brings him.

Unfortunately he has never been big at courting publicity or bigging himself up and that self- deprecation for me is endearing.

Que sera.

Well he hasn't had a 'Judge Rinder' moment yet, but I suspect he will. It was the same back in the day of Pop Idol, he wasn't noticeable in the early rounds - but he went on to win. He's always hovering at the back in the Clauditorium - its just his style to hang back, bide his time.

There's plenty more to come from Will and Karen!

Lol op you and your threads but I tend to agree with you . I tend to forget about him. Well except from week 1 and his horrendous pants but the other men in the competition have more going for them.

Not sure what you mean here but I'll take it as a compliment..I think?

I tend to forget about Greg and Danny. My brain simply doesn't retain them. Despite Greg's lovely partnership with Natalie, and despite Oti.

Will, Ore and Ed stand out more to me. (Will and Ore are my favourites of the possible male contenders.)

Rob Rinder -- I still haven't made up my mind about him. He's right on the cusp between being a true delight and an arse.

I think it's just that you've now got six of your own threads on the main page. You'll be catching up with TerryM22 if you're not careful

I like Will, and he's up there with Danny in that he can actually act and dance - brilliant Tango, with some of Karen's best choreography I thought.

I don't think he's THAT popular.

He's not bad as a singer, he wasn't bad in his small part in "Mrs Henderson Presents."
But as a person, I don't find him particular interesting.
He's a bit "beige."

I've always thought there is a Terry foothold in the DS SCD ecosystem. If he didn't exist, he'd evolve. Someone to approach things from a completely counter viewpoint. A bit anarchic. Shining a light on things covertly...

Will may not be OTT or in your face but any fan will tell you beige he definitely ain't. He's never been one to self promote but I hope that he's still in the competition when the numbers start to dwindle then we'll see the funny, loveable, down to earth guy.

To me he is a really interesting combination -- I don't know how he does it really -- he's flamboyant and yet not in your face. How??

As Greg is completely forgettable to me - Thom Evans all over again. Contenders over pretenders any day, as Len would say !

He's probably one of the the most 'interesting' people there in terms of intelligence. It depends what you're looking for I guess .

I think what you mean is he's not 'in your face' and is taking a bit of a back seat when the others are loudly vying for attention, that's a different thing entirely.

BIB Is just a subjective opinion, one to which you're entitled.

To me, he's likeable, but still beige.

Whilst his dancing is certainly forgettable to me, Greg is physically imposing (tallest male celeb), has red hair and that butt. That's why I don't forget him.

I think he and Karen and Ore and Joanne are in competition to be the smuggest couple this year.

I hope not. I really like Will and think his and Karen's partnership is lovely. Two of my favourites together, so perfect for me.
