I've discovered the method for doing this and I am confident I can follow it. However, I have struck a problem with the following instructions

Right click the track you wish to use in itunes and select "Get info" - that's ok

Select the Options tab and select the time you wish to use for your ringtone.

When I do this, I am unable to change the times - the page is not live.

I just wondered if anyone else had this problem or any help would be very welcome.

My partner has a Mac so I used that and although it's taken me three and a half hours, I've managed it.

When I did it I just used an online covertor to convert the part of the mp3 I wanted to .m4r and then just added it to the tones tab in iTunes...

Took no time at all to do

Don't know the process for iTunes via Windows but for Mac OS I used to right-click the track, choose the ring tone length, convert the song into .m4a and then changed it to .m4r before dragging and dropping into the Tones section of the programme.

Think it's a few more steps in 12.5.1 (?) now.

That's more or less it, Heanor, but it seems like an achievement to me

I'll certainly use the online converter another time. Could you give a link please d123?

I did it to a selection of mp3's a while ago and honestly don't remember which converter I used, there are a number of them (and I just did a google search and used one of the first hits).

Something like these iirc:

http://online-audio-converter.com/

Or
