The difference is, thats pretty standard forum stuff - someone one says something is good/popular or not, then someone says it isn't, then someone presents some sort of evidence for there opinion, which someone else counteracts by saying there evidence is flawed. If it's all just talking about the topic at hand and not getting personal, then it's just normal forum conversation.

The equivalent to what Thamwet did to me and Mullet, was if I were to post to you, on a thread where we hadn't even been engaging and say something like 'don't like Tennant? Well your just arrogant.' which I would never do.


When your personally insulted in the form of name calling out of the blue, I'll wait and see how you take it.

I'm not actually familiar with things like "You said this about so-and-so because you don't want to admit he's popular" being standard forum discussion, except for perhaps the really dodgy, childish ones.

To be fair, Thamwet, I'm 46 years old and have been watching Doctor Who my entire life. Its down to me to decide whether or not I am enjoying the show - I don't have to wait for BBC bosses to show signs of concern.

Having lived through the original 18 month hiatus in 1985/6 and the cancellation of the show in 1989, I am quite happy to express concern when I see the popularity of the show beginning to wain.

If you think the show is doing well and don't see any problems with it that's fine, and I respect your right to have that opinion. Your personal attack on doctor blue box and myself, however, doesn't show the same respect. A great shame.

Well I think you do. That's the tone that your post conveyed, and I viewed that as arrogant. Lord Smexy is right in saying that you are twisting my words. I never called you arrogant because you dislike Capaldi. That's your opinion. I called you arrogant because your posts came across in that way.

You still don't get the problem do you? you came on to a thread, and completely unprovoked and out of the blue, decided to denounce and insult two other forum members. I maybe would have at least expected it, if one or both of us had been having some debate with you previously, but it wasn't the case. Yuppers; it is the French version of Theophulus, which you can find in the Epistles in the Bible. It is an old family name as it was also my grandfather's name.

Perhaps a good rule of thumb, going forward, is that just because you think something about another forum member, it doesn't mean its appropriate to post it.

As I have mentioned before, this forum isn't for personal insults but conversations and debate about Doctor Who. If you cannot operate within those rules you shouldn't be posting.

The show has grown internationally over an 11 year period, not just since Steven Moffat took over five years ago. There has been a constant upward trajectory since 2005 and absolutely no leap/jump since 2010.

It's important to remember that when a country buys Doctor Who they actually buy Season 1. They don't just start with season 5. And Doctor Who season 1 (Doctor 9 and Rose) is the BBC's most purchased drama series ever.

I think it important forum member who post personal and offensive comments about other forum members are challenged on their behaviour.

It is interesting you have chosen to 'quote' me in your post rather than the forum member who has been posting personal comments about me and doctor blue box.

You are right they start with season 1, but the thing is season 5 was when the show started to get big internationally. So more people watched/knew about the show thanks to Moffat/BBC work post RTD. Which therefore meant those who haven't seen s1-4 would then catch up with it.

This is just one article, and it states the massive growth in Doctor Who in season 5, 49% revenue increase (keep in mind this is an old article 2011 i think) and 45% increase in DVD sales. And the biggest thing revenue from UK was 70%, and in this season it was just 50% in the UK which shows the increase in popularity internationally.

Say what you want about SM, i honestly feel S6-8 are one of the weakest 3 season periods in the shows history, but the show increased massively on the international scale in that period, that i wouldn't deem it a failure at all.

Thanks for the clarification. I think it important all forum members take responsibility for this, and don't turn a blind eye simply because they don't agree with the opinion of a forum member who's being attacked.

It doesn't state there was an increase in Doctor Who in season 5. It states there was an increase in the sales of the show in the previous financial year (April 2010 to March 2011). Again, these sales are led by Season 1 of Doctor Who and not season 5.

Season 5 really wasn't an instantaneous international game changer. The BBC sales team promoted the show as a whole and season 1 remained the focus. Even in the states, I would suggest David Tennant remains the most popular Doctor.

If anything, the biggest change for Who in 2010/11 is that it reached about 75 episodes and that would have been a major selling point internationally and in particular in the US.

Yet you did it anyway, all because of the distaste of people passionately stating opinions which differ to yours.


The fact that you are even involved in this is your own doing, for reasons that seem to be unclear.

The only reason I could imagine that anyone would see posters complain about being verbally attacked and actually involve themselves to defend the attacker, and try and act as though the victims are the one's who have to explain and justify themselves, is if they agree with attacking those people for personal reasons.

Add to the fact that your every post since you got yourself involved has been directed towards me personally, and not Mullet who is saying the exact same thing, and it's pretty clear that the only reason you got involved is a personal grudge against me solely because you don't agree with my opinions on a tv show and the way I express them.
