I feel ashamed of clicking on that link, but the good news is that she's obviously angling for a job over there – probably with Fox News, which reserves jobs for right-wing hate mongers.

Great show last night. Gave me almost as many laughs as the patently obvious Trump supporting Brexiters posting on here!

My my they really are touchy aren't they?
My take on this is right wingers are unable to laugh at anything, and certainly not themselves. Left wingers are similarly afflicted. Both wings take themselves far to seriously.

That just leaves the centre ground who are the majority and who without doubt are the most tolerant and sensible. It's this section that are able to smile, laugh, have a good time and generally enjoy life. Thank God for the centre ground.

That's not only my opinion...others on here think so too, though in my case you may have noticed, I didn't even refer to crazy politics.
The plural of 'opinion' is not 'evidence'.

You didn't find it funny, that's fine. But you very much seemed to be putting forward the argument that it is the show's job to be funny for you and in not doing so it was failing somehow. The job of HIGNFY is not to meet any one person's sense of humour, it is to satire the week's news. if you don't like it that's not their problem. if millions of people don't like it, that is.

The truth hurts sometimes.

". They enjoyed the sound of their own echo for so long they stopped listening to people in the street, stopped even imagining their voices mattered.
Too busy labelling people; racists, xenophobes, misogynists, deplorables - to work out they might actually have a meaningful view. It is a mirror image of Britain's Brexiteers 'too stupid' to know what they voted for.
Clinton's supporters are in disbelief. They have been played like puppets, imagining voting by gender, race or colour".

Andy Hamilton was bloody brilliant!!! He also brings out more humour in Paul Merton 😁 I was in stitches "this machine doesn't recognise your face, as a face..."
Victoria the consummate panel game presenter.
Wholly excellent fun from start to finish.
absolutely agree with you. One of the best episodes & even better on HIGABMNFY

Could I just make the slight point her that the people on here whining about the show being anti-Trump, in every poll Brits didn't want him in by a country mile, so it's pretty much a reflexion of the nations mood.

If the show was done in America you may have a point, but here their attitude was pretty much right.

I'm endlessly fascinated by people (who again despite being incredibly in the minority in this country) who are desperate to link the two, when of course immigration is the only real link. So anyone that makes this comparison clearly are just obsessed with that one issue.

Brexit won, nothing wrong with that, but practically everyone I know who voted Brexit think Trump is a moron, and this linking is an internet phenomenon.

I don't know Trump well enough to know what he is really like. He does come across as an idiot so far from what we have seen.

But the show just wasn't funny. What was funny about the Corybn section where he was just walking through a building looking harassed. Can't stand him but it just seemed forced to attempt to make the program appear balanced.

Just constantly bitching about someone isn't funny because you are a bitter loser. The made the mistake of having everyone on there being left leaning and all in agreement. It;s kind of like one of those boring office politics discussions you get where everyone is whinging about a boss they all don't like.

The should have has a trump supporter on who could wind them up a bit and create a bit of funny banter.

To top it off the just lazy Liverpool joke with the bricks. was dire.

Very boring this week it wasn't satire but a collective winge-a-thon.

Well, humour is subjective, there were plenty of jokes amongst the whinges, and as I say I felt it caught the mood of the non-internet nation pretty well.

I expect they scoured the country, but couldn't find one. Presumably Nigel Farage (the only one I know of) wasn't available - too busy sucking up to the man himself. To paraphrase the late-lamented Mrs Merton*: "What first attracted you to the billionaire Donald Trump?".

* No relation to Paul, obviously.

Yes it is.

Just watched Frankie Boyle show about the election result. Even if I find him quite the despicable hypocrite it was hilarious.

Like you say, humour is subjective. I agree with the despicable bit; not sure about hypocrite. He is just a very nasty person.

They went full on ballistic on Trump and was so over the top in places. Sharp and properly the right way to do biting satire.

Not the boring whinging of HIGNFY

In real life he's a nasty bit of work but he is funny. He's brutal but funny and offensive as hell. Well worth seeing him live.

Hypocrite obviously as one segment was banging on about misogyny

Love Rich Hall. I think he had the right tone.

As much as I don't mind Maureen Lipman I think she was the wrong choice for this particular episode, and the book plugging was extraordinary. Not enough news to fill the whole show maybe.

A journalist would have been better. Though I guess all the decent ones were busy.

The party in Government gets slated whilst the opposition get an easy ride. The Tories will get that when Labour come back to Government. It's how the show works and if right leaning snowflakes get upset about it, vote the Tories out at the next election!

Due to the news of a clown being elected to the White House it was open season on Trump for most of the show last week. I imagine there will be much more to follow and all we need now is to see what other lunatics he gives top jobs to.

Surely though you could use the same argument against people who voted for Brexit couldn't you?

He's been much more restrained than usual a lot recently. It would appear that it's the new usual.

Very funny tonight. Alexander Armstrong is a great host and Nish Kumar seems to work better on this show than anything else he does, I normally don't find him funny.

Really enjoyed it - everyone was funny at one point or another and Ian Hislop was on fire.

His digs at Trump Tower and an upgraded Buckingham Palace were very funny.
