He was quite good. I wouldn't usually watch anything he does either but I think this was easily his best HIGNFY. The others were all on good form so it was an enjoyable episode.
I think he's brilliant on HIGNFY, this was his third hosting and they've all been excellent.

Last show tonight!

Thoughts on the series as a whole?

I think it's been average, worse than the Spring one this year which was very good but by no means a bad one overall.

Gary Lineker is always a good host so should be a great show tonight.
Excellent above par series with lots of laugh out loud moments.

A long time ago it was marginly funny when Paul would throw in the accasional random answer that bore no relation to the question.
Not any more.
He is the weak link in the program.

What do you mean, "again"? Has he ever done that?
I think he said something of that ilk on Twitter. He was pretty much right though about the racists etc. So it wasn't scripted was his own genuine views and not said as comedy.

And I'm sure he didn't say that people were racist just because they didn't agree with him.

I think you might be projecting your own obvious dullness onto Gary.
Yes. I'm obviously "dull" because I don't pander to Lineker's abuse and bullying to those who don't agree with his views.

All I can hear is Harry Enfield as Andy Parson's saying "It's the Daily Mail!"

That's what this post "sounds" like.
Sorry, I don't watch poor 90s comedy. So that comment makes no sense to me.

I've just had a scan through his Twitter account and can't see anything remotely relating to what you claim.

He's never abused or bullied anyone as far as I know. Well, he may have called someone an idiot, but that's because the person referred to was an idiot!

You have to understand, some people actually think what the tabloids print is true. Crazy I know, but there you go. If the tabloids say Lineker has been bullying people, then he obviously has, despite the fact he's one person and the thing he's 'bullying' is a national newspaper.

If 2016 has proved anything, is that some people are happy to believe what they're told, will make no effort to verify what they're told, and once told will not dissuaded otherwise.

That became patently clear on June 23rd!

Ah yes, anybody who has a different point of view from your own is being mislead and doesn't know their own minds. How convenient!

By the way, I don't think anybody other than you has mentioned Lineker bullying a national newspaper.

But, hey, what does what people have actually written matter when you don't agree with them, eh?

Just make up your own version of what they've said and what you think they believe, then suggest that they're gullible for believing in your version of events that you have attributed to them.

Why not give us some concrete examples? I'm sure we'll all be waiting to hear.

It goes something like: "Gary Lineker said ...".

GL seems to me like a decent enough bloke who isn't impressed by Donald Trump and thinks some of the media coverage in this country leans towards xenophobia at times. The caddish controversialist luvvie bbc liberal bbc leftish (maybe) bbc elitist luvvie (slight return) bbc ivory tower bbc champagne etc git!

*Anyway*....bit late but caught up and thought it was a decent episode. Jon Richardson was on form and I chuckled a few times.

Not really. Mentioning something relevant to the conversation is not 'convenient' or a coincidence, It's kind of how discussions work. They're not normally 'we say stuff and you agree or shut up'. You seem to have confused discussion with polemic.

A relatively little amount of work will find ample evidence that tabloid newspaper headlines are often either completely made up (particularly in sport) or are at best very limited perspectives, designed not to inform but to enforce the views their readers already have. That's fine, given their job is to sell newspapers rather than inform. It's when people think they're still interested in doing the latter that it gets a bit... silly.

By the way, I don't think anybody other than you has mentioned Lineker bullying a national newspaper.
The only time Lineker has been accused of things like being a leftie or an elitist lovie is after he criticised the sun for a front page they printed. Other than that he's been seen as a fairly inoffensive purveyor of dad jokes and football punditry. if you can't the see the obvious, then, well hold on...

But, hey, what does what people have actually written matter when you don't agree with them, eh?
I wouldn't know, I haven't disagreed with anybody before now. All I did was answer someone's question and then make an observation about tabloid newspaper veracity. This is the first time in this thread i've addressed anyone directly.

Just make up your own version of what they've said and what you think they believe,
Sorry, couldn't hear you, my irony meter just exploded.
