And listened to the lies from the Brexit campaign instead to achieve a miniscule majority of just 3.8%, a figure a certain Mr Farage had said only weeks before if it went that way in favour of Remain he would demand a second referendum. Hhmm, that quickly got forgotten about!

Corrected your spelling error too btw.

I don't read any newspapers, for starters. So I wouldn't know whether Lineker had beef with them. But if people called him out on his smug arrogance, good on them.

Lineker is your quintessential liberal elite. Don't agree with him? Then you're a "racist", an "idiot" and you can "f*ck off". His words, not mine.

Calling someone an idiot is hardly crime of the century and has been pointed out by other posters it's no doubt because they were idiots! As for accusing someone of being racist, you claim it's all over his Twitter account yet i couldn't see anything relating to that. You should post a link to back up these claims.

I cannot see the BBC employing someone making wild false allegations on social media to people being racist, unless of course it was justified. After all there is a lot of racism in this country.

I have Lineker blocked from my Twitter, so I'm not going to trawl 3 months back to find them - but they are out there to see (and subsequent articles about it all) online.

And no, people weren't being idiots. People offered their view and Lineker couldn't take it (regarding the Calais 'jungle').

Of course the BBC would continue to employ him regardless. They'll claim it was his personal account and doesn't share his views.

Sounds to me you only tolerate people who are singing from your particular hymn sheet.

I sincerely hope to be proved wrong but I strongly suspect within the next couple of years there will be a great many more people wishing they had never voted to leave.

It is now becoming clear that immigration whether it's from the EU or globally is going to continue, yet the UK economy is going to struggle outside the wider EU. We are likely to keep a lot of the practices and policies people didn't like but not have a share in the benefits of EU membership.

As I said at the start of this post I hope for all our sakes I'm wrong, only time will tell.

If you're an actual racist or an idiot, then I don't see the problem in someone pointing out that you are those things. Or how that amounts to "smug arrogance".

And they'd be perfectly correct to say that.

Do you mean you don't follow him? Nor do I, actually. You only block someone to stop them following you, so you must be very important if Lineker is trying to follow you.

Lineker tweeted about the child refugees saying that he thought "the attacks by SOME (my capitals)...have been hideously racist..." This was enough for The Sun to demand his sacking. They followed up with a story (you might want to look away if you're faint hearted) accusing him of overenthusiastically snogging on a plane and upsetting people. And it was his wife! On the way to their honeymoon!! Ye gads. (untrue anyway, according to GL)

The Sun (and Mail I believe) also took down a 'front page' story last year claiming GL was involved in some sort of tax avoidance scheme...after he involved his lawyers. He openly tweeted about it, looking forward to "...the apology on page 47" so suspect the story was on v dodgy ground if they withdrew it. Oh, and he personally thinks Tommy Robinson is a racist idiot. It's incendiary stuff, innit!!

People can still re-tweet him onto my timeline, you see.

Twitter will also have a "things you might have missed" bit where tweets of people I don't follow somehow appear because they think I might be interested in it. Hence why I blocked Lineker's elitist views from poisoning my eyes.

I'm not really important, but I do have a brain.

Are you a "racist" and an "idiot" for disagreeing with someone?

Lineker offered his opinion - fine. But when people offered a reply, he began abusing them. Nobody was using racial language in regards to the subject.

It's very symptomatic of the liberal elites at the moment. Don't agree with us? Then you must be a racist, an idiot or from the 50s or something.

If he can't take it, I suggest he stops using Twitter. He loves his ego being massaged though does Gary.

Im suprised the show is still going. It surely must have had its day a decade ago.

They probably should have ended it when Angus left.

Oh look, a post from 2005! How did that get in here?

Yes, HIGNFY has its faults; the left-wing bias, the liberal elite presenters, the way Labour politicians on the show get an easy ride while the Tory or UKIP guests get mercilessly mocked, but for all that it's still the only satirical current affairs panel show that matters and doesn't patronise the viewer.

No. Only if you are actually a racist or an idiot.

Was it really abuse? Calling someone an idiot if they say something daft seems pretty mild. And Tommy Robinson (who he called a racist) does have a history of association with racism.

But Gary has never said someone is a racist just because they don't agree with him.

I'm sure he can take it. He stands up for himself pretty well, does Gary!

I don't see any "left-wing bias". All politicians get mocked on HIGNFY.

Ah finally at last! Wonder why the the poster i'd asked a couple of times wasn't prepared to put a name out? Maybe he doesn't see him as racist.

I do, yes he's an idiot, and no i am not Gary Lineker!

'Labour politicians on the show get an easy ride?'

I don't know what programme some on here watch, I really don't.

So you've only taken the Tommy Robinson reply into account and not all the others?

Merson pointing out that the snowman video was filmed in April so was probably a con got a bit of laugh.

I wonder if anyone has explained to him since that the Americans put the month before the day, so infact the video was from 4th of December.

I think he, like the rest of us, understood that.

No I am sure someone must have explained American dates to him before the programme so he could make a joke about it.

Wish I knew which one was Merson, though.
