Alex Kingston wants River to Join Torchwood
After working with John Barrowman on Arrow, Alex kingston talks about Barrowmans hopes of bringing the series back, and expresses an interest in River being involved.
http://www.radiotimes.com/news/2016-...join-torchwood As someone who has wanted to see Jack and River on screen together for some time, I think this would be brilliant. In fact, since The Husbands of River Song felt like the final chapter in Rivers who story, this would be a great way to see the character again without ruining that, and could be her at any point in her established timeline. For the people who are interested in the idea of more Torchwood, do you think that River would theoretically be a good addition? |

I would love this SO much and a great way to introduce the Moffat era into Torchwood too.

I'd only be interested in Torchwood if they brought it back in the S1 & 2 format. As for River and Jack teaming up, that would be worth a watch.

I think it would be great to see as a "one off". It would be fun to see the flirting and sparks flying between River and Jack.
I'm not so sure it would work if she was a regular in a new series of Torchwood. I think it could become tired and old really quickly. I still think the idea of new Torchwood in TV, even just as a one off special, is dead-in-the-water unless/until RTD expresses an interest. |

![]() not that a whole series would be necessary but a few inter related episodes that tie up loose ends and don't make you want to end it all (Children of Earth) or cringe (Miracle Day) would be fantastic. |

Personally I think the BBC are insane not making this happen,
If this was an American TV Network can you imagine what they would be churning out? just look at all the superhero shows and they are slavering for more. Jack and River are two of the strongest Characters to come from DW. I will never understand given how it sells overseas why they aren't making the most of what they have |

One is an immortal man who can't die whose story has been told, another is River whose story has also been told. People just need to accept the characters are done, be happy with Big Finish. |

Maybe it's just me, but the thing is, Jack and River both play fairly similar characters so I can't see there being much dynamic between the two if they were together.

No. Torchwood is Captain Jack's gig, he's in charge and I don't think that River is a team player, she likes to be in charge and work on her own. She wouldn't take kindly to being ordered around as Jack likes to do to members of his team.

On the other hand, our very first introduction to River, at the end of her life, featured her leading a team on an expedition. It could be argued that *something* must have happened to transition her from solo adventurer to team player. |

However, on Jack's introduction to the Doctor Who universe, he was also a lone player - a conman who never stayed in the same place. Of course, he changed quite quickly when he fell in with the Doctor, but he didn't show any interest in leadership until Torchwood was introduced.

It's not very often I have to rethink an opinion based on someone's comment in a forum, but in this case I might well do. You make a couple of very good points here, sir! Bag of Scooby Snacks AND a Muttley medal for you!
