The Doctor continues to be a weak supporting character in the show, exaggerating the trend started by RTD. Why is Moffat still there seeing as he clearly finds the character so tedious, preferring instead soapy crap?

This entire louis and Clark reference is just BS.

Moffat has always been more interested in second rate, 'romcom' screwball dialogue than stories.
Though there were a few years where his stories were also amazing. Everything he wrote during the RTD era.

True, I agree. He's been shit since series 7 though.

I think this might be why I stopped watching, I didn't bother with last series as it was just the Clara show and I am not a fan. Now that she is gone, I have come back but this is obviously not the best time. I'll wait till the next full series to try again.

The BBC didn't seem to have a lot of confidence in this year's effort. There was very little in the way of trailers and I understand the press were not given a preview. I think they have cynically sandwiched it between the bake off and strictly to try to keep viewers.

Very disappointing. Shame really

Good God, I hate Moffat.
I love him for Press Gang, back when he could mix quirky and romance together.

Another needlessly erratic Doctor Who story, it was plodding along just fine with the brains, but they had to add some 'romance' element into it.

Dread to think how navel gazing Sherlock will be.

Also, next Christmas, Moffat owes us something amazing.

it starts fine.
then after the brain Reveal It totally goes off track
stopped recording it.

IMHO Moffat is just making it very easy for the BBC to convert DW into a series of "specials".

Appalling. Unbroadcastable by any reasonable estimation and yet they did.

Nah, it's quite good. Certainly don't pay any attention to people saying it's aimed at Americans when it's pretty obviously a pastiche of how English people regard 50s Americana and not aimed at Americans at all.

I'm not sure Sherlock can be more navel gazing than the baloney that was served up last year.

I like him for Coupling and Blink, but he is not a good showrunner.
