Imagine the worst TV ever, then double it.

Wasnt most of this ground covered in the first superman movie????
Pretty much.
then revisited in superman II and Superman returns
he then kicks off why people are so negative about him. we wait all year for this
steaming pile of poo. then PC gets the blame for being a sh*t doctor when in fact yet again the script /story is the problem.

Enjoyable Christmas Fun - great performance from Capadi - and Lucas make a great companion - this is how Doctor Who should be.

Lol, the BBC voiceover guy was more entertaining in those ten seconds than the whole of that episode.

Well, that really wasn't very good at all. There was pretty much zero plot. It seemed like at least half an hour was devoted to tedious scenes about a relationship I couldn't have cared less about. Least enjoyable Christmas special since TDTWTW.

Still, I really liked Nardole and look forward to seeing him more next year. Roll on Series 10.

Mediocre shite, clearly aimed at the American market - and they may well lurrrrve it !

Most annoyingly, there was a decent Doctor Who story in there fighting to get out from under all the smothering romcom Superman rip-off bollox.

wow, people are certainly being harsh, I thought it was decent, not the best christmas special they've ever done but definately and improvement over the awful one last year.

Far from perfect and it felt a bit too much of an appeal to the American viewers, but it wasn't the total shitfest I was expecting.

Not unless he's blacked up and cross-dressed. He does have form for that though....

I agree, I feel a bit short changed in regard to actual invasion story. I really disliked the romcom rubbish.

On a positive note I enjoyed the trailer afterwards

TBH I thought that was really boring. Matt Lucas was the only decent thing in it - the fact he was more engaging than Capaldi is just worrying.

Frankly that was a terrible advert for the show after a year gap. Won't have helped it at all.

There's not enough time in an hour to get into any real depth and the thing just races along, light , frothy and totally inconsequential.

The Ghost character was quite well played I thought.

The Doctor using somebody else to save everyone is getting a tad over used.

Capaldi is starting to look even older..he even moves like an old man in this and I'm not sure that rictus grin will appeal to many youngsters.

It wasn't a stinker by any means imo, just a bit of a waste of time.

Save reading the thread for later but I found that utterly charming with lots of chuckles. Nice bit of Christmas entertainment, So there! Capaldi doesn't miss a beat and warming to Nardole.

In oceanography, geomorphology, and Earth Sciences, a shoal is a natural submerged ridge, bank, or bar that consists of, or is covered by, sand or other unconsolidated material, and rises from the bed of a body of water to near the surface. Wikipedia

River Song ? Interesting that they brought her up in the show ?

Anyone else catch the Superman reference during the press conference at the start??

Mr Brock referred to journalists to his assistants Miss Siegel and Miss Shuster

Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster were the co-creators of Superman
