Well I thoroughly enjoyed the whole series. (this years tv addiction!)
I also assumed there would be TWO semi finals followed by a final with 6 artists in. The final felt a bit flat and needed either more artists or some wild cards just to get something else in there. There wasnt much to see with the stenciller so over the hour in the final we really only ever saw two artists at work - hence the format and artist numbers made for a dull programme. I wouldve liked to have seen a semi final featuring SIX wild cards whittled down to 2 and then another semi final of actual winners whittled down to 4 - resulting in 6 in the final and maybe extend the final to 90 minutes. I really did like the winners artwork and feel it was rather strong but I think the woman whom did the wool thang deserved a passage through as did maybe one or another. Some weeks there were TWO strong contenders with the second place being a much stronger artist than another week's winner. There maybe needs a tweak that the judges choose one or two second placers throughout the weeks to join a wildcard semi final too? Cant wait for next year! |

I thought it strange that the last programme seemed to spend too much time talking about Turner. Surely a few minutes would have covered the point. I wanted more of the actual 'how I paint the picture'. I liked the final result, but the representation of the actual house looked unfinished to me. Perhaps that was the artist's final homage to Turner?
