I beg to differ Ben is always in the mood to 'partey' he is well known for it.

Not when he's finding out whether the people who murdered his boyfriend will go to prison.

That and the fact they're not friends like Johnny and Whitney are.

I know people like Johnny, but Ted Reilly really is a poor actor. The character isn't much better either. Would rather he left instead of Lee.

Johnny was there because, bar Lauren, he is Whitney's best friend. She had a crush and spent a lot of time together. Within a week of knowing each other she was inviting him to move in with her after he fell out with Linda. Things were a bit awkward when she tried it on but they soon made up and she moved on with Lee. The pair remained friends and though they did drift apart by the end of 2014, they clearly remained friends because when Johnny returned he referred other as his best mate. Again they haven't appeared on screen much as the writing for Johnny hasn't exactly been amazing but we can assume they soare me a lot of time together since they live together. As Johnny is close to both Whitney and Lee it makes perfect sense that he would be at the hen night as she wouldn't want him to miss out on her night of celebration

I think they were friends once, Ted seems to be getting worse.

I think in the real world Johnny wouldn't go to both the stag and the hen given the general costs esp as he is a student.

ED recently had a joint hen and stag for David and Tracey which I found odd!

At risk of being slandered again.. I think traditions of men having a stag and women having a hen should be kept but at the end of the day it's a night out getting drunk with your closest friends to celebrate your impending ball and chain and so who cares what sexuality the attendees are, that doesn't matter or is of any relevance!

He isn't though, is he? I mean if we're basing this on measurable things like body language, facial expression and voice intonation, he has quite clearly come on noticeably since he first arrived.

He's living at home where I doubt he pays much or any rent, presumably receives a student loan (and it's the start of term so he won't have spent it all yet), and also gets paid for his bar work. He's probably in a better financial position than a lot of characters.

Johnny has been friends with Whitney since the carters first arrived on the square.

Also, lets not forget that Whitney and Johnny live together, so they are bound to have more day to day interaction than we see on screen.

I thought it was a nice touch that he was going. I'm gay, and when some of my best friends get married, I know I'm not close enough to the grooms to go out with them and their friends, so I would say yes to an invite to the hen party.

The last hen and wedding I went to I spent about £600 all in! It's not cheap attending weddings!

I've been to a few weddings this year (I'm at that age where everyone is getting hitched!) and £600 sounds incredibly excessive. They normally average about £150/200 for me, or slightly more if I'm staying the night.

Thankfully most of mine are now married

It is not excessive when you add in costs of everything you spend, outfits, present, accommodation, the actual do's, travel etc.

That amount doesn't even take into account the wedding fairs we went to, nights in/out planning etc in the months leading up to it!

Think most hens cost me what you spend in total

He'll soon be over that give it a week or so and he will be hooked up with Johnny as was the script writers intention with the disposing of Paul no doubt.

I don't think so. I think actually their intention was to tell a good story with a clear message (granted there were some dodgy parts, such as the kidnapping). But he may get with Johnny in the future

My friends had a joint "hag" do. Another friend and a relative both had a bridesman. Things change.

When I got married many moons ago we had the hen and stag dos on the same night. Initially the two groups were separate then at midnight we all met up at my future inlaws' house and had one big joint party which went on till about 6,00 am. It was great fun! It was arranged beforehand that we'd all meet up at midnight.

It was odd but it can easily be brushed aside. Apart from the few who would see it as sterotyping that gay guys go on hen dos. Luckily i haven't seen much of that.

Edit:
...until I read the rest of this thread :O

Not sure what is odd or stereotypical about it. Whitney is his friend and she asked him to attend. I suspect he will also attend Lee's stag.

I know some of the usual suspects love to nit pick but this one is at the bottom of the barrel.

Yeah, it's something they'd have a character like gay party-boy "Christian Clark" do. Unfortunately, it doesn't really work with a seemingly-asexual drip like Johnny. And Tina thinks Johnny will abandon her when he pulls some guy? LOL! He wouldn't even go on a date with the dashing Tom Pepper.

What costs Whitney's 'do' was local and is Lee even having a stag?

Anyway as others have said Johnny and Whitney are good friends. It makes more sense that he was there than Tina or Donna or Sonia

Er paying for drinks, they got in a big minibus to go to the west end so would have chipped in with that. Drinks in the west end are not cheap unless you sit in the moon under water where you can get reasonably priced drinks at times.

Entry to club or wherever they go. Then a new outfit to wear to the do.

It all adds up

Spot on, I regularly get invited to both
