Could it be a whirring, mechanical clicking sound or was it an electronic hum. Was it beeping or singing show tunes?

Hi
I think the hard drive is dead I took this out the box but it would not work in my PC to just keeps making a funny sound. I see if I could replace it but have now lost loads freeview recordings. ![]() https://www.flickr.com/photos/305397...etaken-public/ |

Sounds like a knackered hard drive. Roll on the day when they are all consigned to the dustbin and replaced by solid state drives at a price that ordinary people can actually afford. I wouldn't worry too much about your lost Freeview recordings. You still have the catch-up services and almost everything gets repeated sooner or later.

TBH I think we are into the dying days of the era of PVRs. It will be all online / catch-up / clouds / downloads in a few years time.

Still have about another 5 to 6 months half price off on sky HD so hope this box keeps working for now and this don't happen on my 2tb one.
I do have a 500gb hard drive which goes in the box but its used in my laptop and has windows but if upgrade to an SSD I could put this in. |
