Apple, the IOS 10 music app and its perpetual tinkering
I’ve got to say I’m less than chuffed with Apple’s latest iPhone music app. It seems to defy logic, and is very odd to say the least. I’ve just added a CD of music to iTunes (the latest version) then synced my phone and watched the music being transferred to it. But when I go to play it, it is nowhere to be found, even though it shows up on the phone in iTunes.
Then there’s the fact that if you look up songs, they are alphabetically listed - by the artists. The songs aren’t. What kind of logic is that. If I want to play Autumn Leaves, I won’t find it under A for Autumn Leaves, but under A for Art Farmer (and why not F?), B for Bob Dylan (and why not D?), C for Cannonball Adderley and C for Chet Baker. But I won’t bloody find it listed the versions by Duke Ellington, Miles Davis, Oscar Peterson, Stan Getz, Eric Claption, Bill Evans and Peter Nordahl. Why not? They are on the phone - somewhere 0 and are shown to be on the phone in iTunes, but I can’t find them on the phone itself. It makes absolutely no sense. And if I remember each new iteration of the iPhone music app seem to make less and less sense, with earlier versions being quite user-friendly. Apple (and her fanboys) will probably scream ‘user error’, but I’m really not sure that’s the case. |

The Music app on iOS 10 is a disaster.
Try this: make a smart playlist on iTunes with certain criteria. It will appear on the iPhone with completely different songs. |
