Candidate claims show is rigged, bullying takes place etc!
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/arti...man-Smith.html Quote:
'The average viewer cannot begin to imagine the level of control and puppet-mastering that goes on. Candidates each year are mere pawns, as unsuspecting as lambs to the slaughter', she says. I suppose an element of fakery is inevitable given the nature of the show but if candidates are mistreated that sounds wrong and should be stopped.
'This rationing, starvation and sleep deprivation is not by chance, what better way to ensure fraught nerves and lapses in concentration than by throwing together cold, starving and exhausted, stressed out young people?' she asks. Ms Waterman-Smith claims the famous boardroom scenes in which wannabes are grilled by Lord Sugar and his assistants are scripted in advance, with producers telling the mogul who to target. She added: 'Before we are summoned, we have to sit in a dark, windowless room in complete silence for up to three hours. No books, no communication, just pure, tense silence.' Hitting out at 'miserable old-timer' Lord Sugar, she states 'no matter how rich and successful, you can still be a cruel and mercurial boss... [but] I do not believe you have to cajole and manipulate people in order to get good results in business'. Have you ever wondered how the boardroom remains so tense? Waking up on boardroom day the tension mounts, we are expected to be ready for hours and production interview us one by one, demanding we blame each other and point the finger at someone for potential failure before we find out our fate. We are all wondering who has our backs and who will turn on us in the boardroom. Before we are summoned, we have to sit in a dark, windowless room in complete silence for up to three hours. No books, no communicating, just pure tense silence. This gives Sugar time to speak to producers and plan whom to attack in the boardroom, what shots they need to film and which candidate they will decide to fire. The claim that it is 'unscripted' is an absolute joke; everything that happens is pre-planned for maximum effect on TV. For example, I was given a hard time on each and every boardroom, in fact it became a running joke among us that 'whatever happens, Selina will get the blame anyway.' On task 5, the book task, when I was sub-team leader, wrote and sang the theme tune for the audio book, came up with the concept and was top seller – I thought I was safe. Yet, Sugar and his team came up with a sneaky way to discredit me; his opening comment after revealing we failed was 'Selina, don't you think you should have sold more,' and much was made of this. However, the viewers do not know I was the top seller, they were not shown the clip of Karen Brady saying I made 'the best sale of the day.' Regardless of my sales figure, Sugar has successfully lead viewers to believe that whatever I sold, was not enough. Tasks are usually determined in advance regarding who will win and lose. Often one team will have a substantial disadvantage, like a poor sales location, or being inexplicably held up for an hour while the other team was out selling. On task 8, the event task, which I was PM for and won a second time, they actually changed the rules of the entire show to try and catch me out – which is quite flattering in a way. |

I just knew that would be SWS.
Still trying to get attention. Still incapable of seeing her own all to obvious shortcomings. |

Oh look.... it's Selina.... again....
Funny how the much more well-adjusted candidates are never saying stuff like this, but the one who'd been proven to have done some INCREDIBLY shady things and showed some frankly repulsive behaviour towards Charleine and got outed for it on the programme, is the one claiming the show is rigged. She's an awful person, her 5 seconds of fame are up, and I hope she's now well and truly on the fast track to obscurity. |

I can't say I was a fan of Selina but it doesn't surprise me in the slightest that this entire programme is planned (i.e. rigged) from start to finish. As I don't give a faff about any of them, it doesn't bother me and I enjoy the entertainment. They only have themselves to blame for going on the programme in the first place if it doesn't turn out as they hoped.

Wether you like her or not, I can totally believe her. Of course its rigged, all these types of shows are rigged. Is anyone REALLY so nieve to believe otherwise ? I watch it fully knowing its a scripted show with zero semblance of reality. Sugar neither knows nor cares what they actually do or not do on the tasks, he would'nt even know their names without being briefed.

Laughable.
Did the BBC also keep them in leg irons? |

Same. Believe every word she says but only because it's so bleedin' obvious. OF COURSE they agree beforehand who makes it through and who doesn't, because it's all down to whether Sugar has an interest in their business plans -- for serious consideration as well as how entertaining they will be to rip to piece in the interviews.
Doesn't change the fact that this chick has a serious victim complex and was worse to Charlene than she was to her. |

Considering this was the same woman who claimed last year that the only reason the press had dug up so many unsavoury stories on her past was because the producers were feeding them info - you know, because the tabloids in this country are so notoriously poor at digging up dirt on people, and need to rely on TV producers to do their job for them - I'm not inclined to take her at face value.
Plus there were pretty detailed behind-the-scenes reports from the candidates back in Series 1-4 (before it got clamped down on), and they described a little bit of chicanery going on, but nothing like the extent implied in this article. |

Everything on tv is fake and scripted now, It has to be, as the bar has been set so high since the days of original reality tv programmes. I wouldn't be surprised if they were actors, some of them.

Not her again. FFS Selina your fifteen minutes of fame have long been over. Why can't you go back to anonymity?

It's obvious that there are some serious business people with half decent plans to present to Sugar; then there's the 'constantly self publicising Selinas', who are there for pure entertainment purposes.
Selina is an awful shrieking woman who I admit gave me a good few chuckles with her analysis of the Apprentice.

Apart from prescription medication being taken away, is anything she says anything we didn't think was the case?
It makes me wonder why she fought so hard to win last year when she was obviously being held against her will in that mansion.

Her problem was she was, probably for the first time in her business career up against people who were as good as or better than she was..... and in her case there were more of them better than her,
Ghastly creature - made the fatal mistake of underestimating Charleine's ability and enthusiasm just because Selina deemed her "common"...... who made the biggest sales and got to the final then? Charleine's or Selina??? I believe that there is a lot of manipulation going on behind the scenes to allow Sugar to end up with the business partner he wants, but hey - it's his money and he can have who he wants. |

In this clip you can see how delighted she is that others find her so annoying. She definitely seems like the type producers throw in the mix just to piss people off. |

That's the programme I was talking about - where she put down Charleine (and Joseph) for their lack of polish, yet when she persuaded Joseph to take her to the potentially big bucks earning site - she did nothing at all..... just sat there leaving it all to Joseph who didn't really match up with the customers...... she had the chance to use her polish and class to make sales - but didn't!

To believe her rot is to be naive.
For a start read Alan Sugars book about the Apprentice. Do you really think if all this codswallop was true other ex-candidates would be coming forward to say the same thing ? Any, Any at all, yes ? NO! Have some common sense people. The show is on TV and she just happens to do an article now about all this now ? Bullshit. |

Was this by any chance written for the anti-BBC newspaper, The Daily Mail? Doesnt matter what program it is or who wrote it, the bias against the BBC by this newspaper gives no credibility.
As mentioned, why is it the sore loser who is crying and whining a year on? Yet you dont see any others writing to newspapers complaining. Many of them continue with their businesses and act like business people, in fact the majority do yet this character continues living her life in the past in the hope for another shot of fame. Just sign up to Celeb BB and hope Channel 5 gives you a show. What we dont need is another Katie Hopkins. |

The finalists are almost certainly decided beforehand. The business plans are all submitted before filming starts, and the format of the show means that Sugar (and the show's producers) can ensure that their 2 favourites are there until the end.
Making 'performers' hungry, tired, etc in order to generate content is a widely used trick in these supposed reality shows, as it guarantees conflict. Surprised no one has spoken out about this before, but it's pretty much common knowledge. |
