Danny is fab, just an amazing dancer. Would still vote for the jive though, there was just something about it in that moment.

Well this is it as well isn't it. Jay danced lovely the first two weeks but he wasn't like Danny .. brilliant from the outset .. he just had promise. Danny was better last week imo but he was great from the beginning. Danny does a great dance and nobody is in the least bit surprised.
I do like him (Danny) .. but his dancing is always going to be of a high standard. He was already competent and he doesn't seem to suffer nerves or lack confidence. He's a showman.
It wasn't a 'level of technique we've never seen before' though (to quote Craig's words for Jay's jive.) It was a great dance but like so many other great dances .. it wasn't wow! I'm not sure I'll watch it back.

Exactly....and the end of Jay's jive I just sat there and went.... WOW...did I really just see that.

Jay's jive had the surprise element to it - that's when we knew how good he really was! Whereas we already knew how good Danny is.

And at the end of the 2nd 3rd 4th and 5th times I watched it.

Two very different dances.

FIFY hated Cola's dance, loved Sophie's and Zoe and Ian are still my favourite couple.

Jay's jive, that paso just did not have the same impact. If I had to choose dances that did make an impact on me this evening, it would be Will's salsa, Claudia's Charlerston, and Ed's samba. I find them all memorable, each for a different reason though

Not even a serious question really. I mean could there be any competition for Jay's jive? I love Danny, he is perhaps the best dancer in this current series and I loved his Cha Cha Cha, it was almost Jay jive worthy. But I have watched that jive many times since that historic night and each and every time I get a shiver down my spine watching it and at the end just sit back and go wow. It gets me the same way every time, the kid was channelling Travolta that night and his dance will live on in Strictly history.

This is it exactly.
Jay, I knew he could be good from week one, but his first dances were shy and a little stumbly at times. This was a perfect dance, full of confidence and they also nailed the two characters they were portraying as well as the jive.

I personally don't think Danny can win this, because he has started too good, it will just be week after week of good dances, but there's no light and shade to that. It's expected of him to do well and he will.

As I have already said, Jay's jive benefited from a lack of preconceptions which Danny simply doesn't have. And he was more or less unopposed for 'best dance of the week', whereas Claudia's Charleston was on par if not better than Danny's dance. The JayJive was a perfect storm, and it will be a very long time before *anybody* can replicate it.

Bit early to ask this question. All the dyed in the wool Jayshippers will vote for Jay. Might have been better to wait until the end of the series when Danny has had a chance to build on his fan base.

PS It was obvious from his past experience that Jay would be good. Overcoming his crippling nerves was the issue.

Well no. Jays jive was a feeling you cannot get after the event. If you wait until the end of the series there would most likely be even less votes for Danny as the memory of this fades and Jays is still there over a year later.

After he did it I wanted to see it again right away, I almost wanted them to demand he do it again then and there. If I see it now, it's still as fresh.

After Danny's dance, it was good, but that was all. It won't be something people will talk about for years and years. That jive just will be, Jay fan or not, it's one of those special ones, this paso isn't.

I went and watched it after this thread popped up and I'm still wowed by it and I've seen them dance it from front row live 3 times. one of those times to completely different music and costumes and even that version wowed me.

It's a triumph of choreography imo. Although the theming had a massive impact on the night.

Technically Danny is the better dancer and did the Paso choreography brilliantly.

However, that Jive was the better dance given the music, the choreography and its overall impact. Never been bettered.

Not once has Danny ever wobbled his bottom lip and baby talked. Not once has he ever acted like a frightened 8 year old and cowered against his pro for reassurance despite being a grown ass man. Not once has he acted like dancing is THE MOST IMPORTANT THING EVER TO EXIST. At no point has he made my pelvis spasm or my womb bellow "MUST. ENGULF." in a deep voice. My ovaries remain stolidly unrotated by Danny Mac. I have never spontaneously lactated when he is on-screen.

Therefore, he shall forever be second to Almighty Jay, Patron Saint of Woobie, Bringer of Mum Feels, Hallowed Be His Name.

I totally agree with this. Danny was technically great in the Paso but it didn't have a 'wow' moment in the routine. I preferred Ore's American Smooth which not only was techically well executed but also had a couple of 'wow' elements to punctuate the routine and then Claudia and AJ blew me away with their Charleston which completely captured the feel of Bugsy Malone.

I don't think that accounts for most of his fans but nevertheless made me chuckle.

I guess I just didn't get quite the same feeling after Jay's Jive, possibly because he was lucky with his choices of movie/music. But I do understand what you mean. As much as I thought Danny was superb tonight, I would still choose Austen's Paso as my favourite.

Was never a fan of Jay, but his jive for me is superior to Danny's paso - which I found lacked drama

Jive, Jive, Jive, Jive, Jive all the way.

No one expected such a kickass performance from Jay, regardless of how lovely his waltz was the previous week. He was so shy, it seemed to come out of nowhere. Danny is gonna be boringly good at everything every week, no surprises. I expected the Paso to be good, it meant nothing to me.
