There's something really off-putting about him. He's like someone built a 'good-looking young man' out of offcuts of various boyband members faces but put them all together slightly wrong.

I'm annoyed he gave probably the best performance of the night because he makes me feel slightly sick. He's a singing uncanny valley.

I think he's rather lovely and sings jolly well. Good luck to him.

Well since his audition I have had him tagged as the likely winner.

Decent sort of person and clearly the best singer with the best tone and range and is able to put some emotion into his performances.

Definitely can see this happening. It's his saving grace vocally.

Just watched on catch up and I'm bemused by the hype and ott praise from the judges for what seemed to me to be a rather mediocre performance.
His voice is forgettable and he has the stage presence and charisma of a paper bag

He was better than I've seen him before ..but he has a nose direct from the grinch ..he has horse teeth and his eyes are too far apart ....apart from that he's OK !

I can't watch until tomorrow, but from what I have seen, Matt is a nice enough seeming guy who looks the part of popstar and can sing who is trying his best.

Why so harsh? Sure, great singers, one with far more range and ability, who were also marketable with star potential in his category were sent home. (and I likely have more reason to care about that than most here, and still have no issue with Matt)Sure, he is the chosen one. I'll even give you that he seems to put on a contrived image to a point. That doesn't make him "gross". Just a conventionally handsome guy with a good voice and some talent doing his best to get somewhere in life by taking an opportunity offered to him.

Being "the best" of this series isn't exactly a compliment.

I don't understand why people are so harsh on him. There are much much worse acts on the show. For example I still don't comprehend why Ryan is on the show? Freddie is good but that song choice was completely wrong.

He can sing, but have to disagree with the judges, it was an awful song choice. A man should never sing 'You Don't Own Me' and changing it to "Don't say I can't go out with the boys" was cringeworthy.

A man singing that song would be like Victoria Beckham releasing a cover of All About That Bass, or Trump and Farage duetting on Heal the World.

Well its weekend so theres no school.I didn't really rate him but credit where its due he easily gave the best vocal performance last night.hes your winner boys so you better get used to it.

I wouldn't describe him as "gross" but there is something about him that I find unattractive.

I do think he has a pretty good voice though.

Boys end up in controlling relationships too. There is no reason why a man shouldn't sing it. I just think he was the wrong man to sing it. It would have suited Freddie better with his rich tone. Matts version sounded to clean and nice when it is supposed to sound edgy and rough.

I always have a negative reaction to contestants who are hyped by the judges. I haven't seen anything special in Matt's performances yet but I don't find him "gross". He does have that boyband look that the tweens will like, whether he's more than that I don't know.

He looks like Louie Tomlinson - both are not the best looking - can not believe that there was no other better looking male in the competition to shove down our throats

People are less harsh on Freddy because he doesn't get the help that Matt Terry gets with the vocal enhancements that Matt has had at the Judges Houses, and now at the first live show.

And to be honest with Ryan I think some people pity him like I do as his being set up to be the "bad one" out of the serious acts and have false hope built up for him even though most of the public will be wondering what his still doing there by week 4.

Ryan will probably get Ben Weighill's version of Time After Time as his best moment, but that's all I see for him at these lives.
