You Don't Own Me is about more than "controlling relationships". It was written and originally performed at a time where women were the subservient, domesticated property of men. It's synonymous with female empowerment, thus making little to no sense why a man would choose to sing it.

In this case, it was purely chosen because it was covered last year.

Matt is a good looking guy, pretty boy, imo, I am gay and even I can admit he is good looking, however, as an artist/singer he is nothing special or different.

I'm old enough to be his mother so not his target audience but I find everything about him extremely mediocre. Mid you, I think the same about 1D and look what happened to them!

He fits the mold of the original Pop Idol premise and I think that's what Simon is looking for this year as there hasn't been a typical pop idol type winner since Shayne Ward
