1. Claudia and AJ dance of the night for me, closely followed by Ore and Joanne (Wonderful choreography by Joanne)

2. Danny overmarked, he seemed to be going through the motions with that Paso, has to be the best 'Ringer' SCD has had hope he doesn't win .. can't take to him but I absolutely love Oti.

3. Keep up the backchat Will, it is about time that grumpy Len was put in his place, thank God we only have to put up with him for a few months more. His remark back to Will was outrageous.

4. Thought Tameka's dance wasn't much cop, although both Tango's suffered from horrendous music choices. I hope Naga gets over her nerves because she stunningly beautiful and can dance (Getting trapped in the harness doesn't help).

5. Greg is improving week by week and I loved their American Smooth..As to the rest of the dances they were all meh for me.

1. I agreed with Len that Will's Samba had too much Bollywood in it but he really annoyed me making such a song and dance about wiping a bit of cream off the desk after Claudia's dance. I will not miss him and his grumpiness when he goes.

2. I adored both Lesley and Antons and Ore and Joanne's dances. I had tears in my eyes at both but then I love the old "proper" musicals. I thought Jo's choreography was just stunning (and that's the first real compliment I've ever paid her). I would love love love to see Anton and Joanne dance both those routines together to see them at their full potential.

3. Danny's Paso left me cold. His posture was all wrong imo - too hunched over. I get that he is a good dancer but maybe just too good too early for me.

4. Louise's Cha Cha was good, not brilliant but I loved the huge smile on her face all throughout. She is growing in confidence and it's lovely to see. I also commend her for the calming influence she has had on Kevin.

5. I love Alijaz but Daisy leaves me cold, which is a shame. On the other hand I adore Greg with Natalie and could see them going all the way.

Sneaky 6. I know Tameka is marmite but she makes me laugh. Her "crying" in the auditorium was just hilarious imo although I can see how she could grate as well.

1. Loved the opening to the show.
2. Wonderful choreography from Joanne. Routine had a magic to it.
3. Thought Ore and Jo should have performed last, would have made a good ending.
4. Impressed with how much Laura gave to her performance.
5. Didn't appreciate Will answering back to Len.

I go two ways with this.

I agree that it can be too high and some of the eights on week one were wasted, I can think of a few, but like Anastasia's eight from Craig when she nearly fell over, by that standard everyone deserves a ten for staying upright and doing an average dance.

But, I do think if a dance is worthy of a score, say Danny's nines or last year, Jay deserved tens for that jive, no matter the week. If it's worthy of a score, it's worthy and should be scored what it's worth. If Danny was to do that cha cha and score sixes the judges would look like idiots.

Re your second point, I personally don't think Anton could do the majority of that dance as well. The ballroom parts, yes, but the way Ore recreated Gene Kelly's moves, it also has something to do with his own centre of gravity. I don't think Anton could do it quite the same. It's funny, it doesn't matter how good a dancer someone is, they can't all just recreate someone else's work with ease, that's why I think Ore did such an amazing job last night.

That's obviously just my opinion.

The scoring at the top end is nothing unusual. If you add up the first three scores of every Strictly contestant ever, only Danny (7th) and Louise (20th=) are even in the top 20. It's the scoring in the middle and bottom that's skewiff. Routines as bad technically as Ed's, Naga's, Anastacia's and Lesley's would not be scoring in the mid to high 20s in most other series.

You know you are quite right and I bow to your wisdom, lol. I suppose what annoyed be were the amount of high scores given so early. You are absolutely right that Jay's jive deserved some tens and it annoyed me at the time when Darcy stated right to camera as its week three I can only give you a 9 ... WTF? If you feel its worthy of a ten give the guy a ten. But I suppose in some respect her doing that proved my point, she felt it was to early to go with a ten <shrugs> However as you also pointed out Craig's 8 for Anastacia when she almost fell over coming out of that spin was ridiculous. So yes, give them where they are genuinely worthy, but don't spread them so wide that they mean nothing so early in the series. Give the contestants something to aim for.

1. Really enjoyed movie week for once. It was comparatively prop-light.
2. Claudia and Ore were the two I watched again.
3. Blimey, it's still a long show.
4. Lots of mid-tablers. This is going to be the year of the shock B2s.
5. Judges mostly no sillier than usual, bar Bruno's rather bizarre 9 for Laura's dance.

Five thoughts:

1. Matthew Kelly did an excellent salsa bollywood fusion
2. Freddie Starr looks bad in green face paint
3. A carabiner and tango do not mix even if the former sounds like a dance of its own
4. Lou could have got bonus points for taking her bra off down her sleeve
5. I really should buy a doublet gilet thing to cover up my huge arse

Haha, why thank you!

I do think that the issue starts with them not scoring those who are not great low enough, so with Len scoring a seven doe someone who is bad the next score for average is an eight, so you are going to get to nines and tens easier for something great.

But yeah, give them what they deserve, otherwise if they did have a cap of say an eight until week four then Jay's jive getting four eights is going to look silly, it was still underscored as it was, I said the same thing about Darcy, if she thought it was a ten, it was a ten, no matter what week.

Another problem, which has really arisen this year is that so many are so good. So they all end up with a similar score, which is where possibly a .5 score could be handy to separate them all a little more and as you say, have something to reach for. If they have given everything a nine they have to go to ten now when something is better (but maybe not quite a ten). But if you had the 9.5 it could help. In the final last year I didn't really think Kellie was worth all of the tens, but they had given nines and she was better, so it was a ten.

1. Why does Len have a go at the celeb about the choreography when they just do what they are given? Is it a ploy to get them noticed? Or was it a dig at the production team?

2. Thought Laura's salsa was awful, why did it get a 9 from Bruno?

3. Enjoyed most dances last night which was unusual on a theme week.

4. Love Lesley's attitude and think she is an inspiration to us older ladies. I will be throwing her some votes each week.

5. Ore finally had a dance worthy his talent, would have topped my score board.

1. Claudia & AJ's Charleston was superbly danced and they balanced the dance content and acrobatics well.
2. Naga needs to relax, she looks and sounds as though she's hating every minute and that's not good to watch.
3. Tameka has a huge personality but needs to rein it in a bit.
4. Agree with Darcey, the energy Lesley has is remarkable for a lady of her years.
5. Great to see Greg gaining confidence.

A bit underwhelmed with Louises performance but I think this had more to do with my high expectations due to the song, and forgetting it was a cha cha cha

Really liking Greg and Natalies partnership. And Gregs working really hard at technique as I don't think he has much natural ability

I noticed AJ had worries about the cream (offering Len the towel to wipe up after noticing his less than impressed face!) and then offering Claudia (presenter) his arm after she had cream all over her hands and didn't know what to do with it! Their Charleston was fab.

Haven't warmed to Danny or Ore yet, but loved both of their perfomances last night.

Tango wasn't Tamekas dance, I think Samba and Salsa are more her style.

1. AJ - that Charleston was fantastic. He's having the time of his life, his enthusiasm is infectious.
2. Didn't like Laura's dance. She was gauwky and gangly, all arms and legs.
3. Disappointed by Judge Rinder, that Charlston was pretty bad, I think the music was wrong, too slow.
4. Louise's outfit was distracting.
5. Ore's AS, brilliant.

1. Loved Ed. He's what it's all about.
2. Lots of vey strong dances: Daisy, Danny, Claudia and Ore in particular.
3. Slightly underwhelmed by Louise overall.
4. Loving Greg and Natalie and think he could be a dark horse.
5. Best show in ages! Loved it.

P:s. Wow the standard is so much higher than last year. I don't think two of last years finalists would be getting to Blackpool with this years cohort. Exciting

Apparently I registered for the Forum in 2011 but I can't remember However, having been a stalker for a long long time, this is my first ever post. So here goes....
1. I think I'm the only person on the Forum who actually liked Tameka. She made me laugh out loud and I'm sad she's gone.
2. Greg...secret crush as it's turned out.....who'd have guessed
3. Loved Anton and Lesley last night. Too cute.
4. Daisy, Laura and Danny leave me cold.
5. Ed is better than expected but don't overdo it love

Anyway, Poldark's on so gotta dash......
