Why is the show determined in giving him such a push and showering him in glitter?

My theory is Simon is aiming to replace him for another member of One Direction (Zayn, possibly) and is getting him out there as much as possible ready for the reunion.

I think he is there to replace 1D but not as a member. None of the 1D boys who are releasing music signed to Simon so he has no male heartthrob to sell to young girls.

Simon already has Ella, Louisa, Fleur, Tamara, Rebecca and Little Mix on his books. I don't think he wants another girl to win. He will end up signing Matt and 5am whatever happens imo.

If Louis was the one needing replacement, your theory would make sense. But replacing a 1D member with a dead ringer for one of the remaining guys would just be weird.
