If they had steamrolled One Direction's first single on ads and on every show and got the two years on's crop of contestants to perform it as a group song, and featured say Harry Styles as an influential guest judge at Judges' Houses two years after 1D debuted, in an alternate universe where 1D only had one successful single, then that would be an apt comparison to what they're doing with Fleur.
Fact is at this point she's had less chart success than Dannii Minogue in her time on the show which is hardly a high bar. Yet she is treated like THE star and THE success story. She must really have made good friends with the producers and Simon!
Personally if I was one of the Little Mix girls I would be annoyed by this - in the game five years and none of them have been invited back as a guest judge, despite huge chart success in both the singles and album charts.

That is because Fleur has been in the industry for 12 years, so somewhat longer than LM. She has far more experience.

Appearing on the X Factor making out she's been a club singer when not only had she already been on the show, she'd been gigging, released an EP of solo material and toured with Drumsound and Bassline Smith and DJ Fresh and appeared on their albums and singles. Woe is her! What a farce of a series.
Well yeah that's true being in the industry is more than about the chart success there is stuff behind the scenes, the struggles, the no, the yes's, little mix were babies got put together - won on their first go, Fleur has been around the block a few times so yes Little mix are more successful but Fleur has had the experience, fleur is just starting her career on a bigger level but in terms of XF and the contestants - Fleur is the best one to dish out advice here.

It just seems ridiculous to me to have a song that makes non-stop sax innuendos (definitely haven't heard any of them before), then says 'play that sax' followed by a loop of synth trumpets. Been playing sax for ten years so it particularly gets my goat.
It's a horn section and there is a sax there Fleur explained what sax they were and there is a photo of them all in the recording booth - also in her live performances a sax is present so what exactly is th problem

I think we can shut this thread down; the two cheerleaders will never ever accept anything anyone will say that is remotely critical of Fleur or her work or anything else connected to her.
As for the original point of the thread, I think we may be witnessing the last death throws of the 'let's make Fleur East a star' campaign - Gifty seems to appeal to the same demographic, and if she proves to be doing well with the voters I would guess we will see Syco putting their weight behind her and dropping Fleur.
Not that it matters, but just to clarify that this is NOT a reflection on Fleur, simply a reality of the music industry.

I'm not an expert in a great many things but playing tenor saxophone is what I do and I can't hear any live sax on that record. There seem to be a few synth baritone notes here and there, and they could be live I suppose but they're quite low in the mix. A bari sax is the easiest sax to use as a synth in sax lab as it's one of the deepest sounding saxes, anything else sounds awful imo. Perhaps it was a bari that was in the picture (It has a looping neck). The chorus sounds like a synth trumpet loop to me unless it has been mixed in a really odd way. If you listen to lets say 'Uptown Funk' as it's the most obvious example, the primarily trumpet and brass section hook sounds more 'live' then 'Sax' to me. But it could just be a bad mix. If they did use a standard brass section it's tradition to not include any saxes (they're technically woodwind) if they did add say an alto sax to the ensemble then it's been mixed out of existence. But the point is don't do a song about saxophones and then barely use them if at all. If they've changed it when she performs it live then all well and good. But I think it just goes to show when it comes to SYCO there's no love of the craft and they just picked it so they could do tedious sax/sex puns. That's the problem.

I would have loved to hear more of a saxaphone used in the track tbh. It would have added even more to the track.
