Sadly posts like this are usually more about looking for a reaction than a true belief.

When questions like this are posted I do worry that as a country we are not progressing.

It's been no fuelled by the tabloid press making something out of nothing. Hence the humorous posts, it's a serious subject but SCD fans know it's not true.

A few who still believe the tabloids may get taken in, but the majority know that papers like The Sun have an agenda.

Note The Sun printed three versions of why Will Young left, so two at least were made up.

I suppose the saying 'why let the truth get in the way of a good story' is true!

What did Daisy or Laura do to deserve being in the dance off? Both are much better than anybody who has gone out and were mid way on the table on their respective weeks. I suppose there isn't any discrimination there just tough luck.

This show is about popularity and varying taste, so yeah, any result is just the luck (or not) of it (depending on which way you look at it).

Apologies if this has been covered in this thread but I came across this on the Wiki page for Strictly today.

Is this true? I know Wiki isn't always true. But if it is, I can see why they gave her Danny this year.

Another race row occurred in 2015's series of Strictly when new South African pro dancer Oti Mabuse accused the BBC of partnering her with a challenging partner because she was black. Mabuse had been partnered with mixed race champion boxer Anthony Ogogo, and Mabuse and Ogogo were voted off in the second week. Whilst Ogogo joked that he believed the odds were stacked against him, Mabuse went to the press and accused the BBC of ensuring their eviction from the competition due to them both being black.

In a statement, Mabuse said "It's a first for Strictly, a black dancer, it's no wonder that I got partnered with Anthony and that we got voted off second week, obviously people at the BBC don't want to see a black person win". The BBC denied the claim and both Ogogo and Mabuse later retracted their statements. The BBC were unsure of inviting Mabuse back for the 2016 series, but however changed their mind. Mabuse was invited back where she partnered with ex Hollyoaks actor Danny Mac.

Eight dance of couples and only one male celebrity has been in the dance off so far.

That's sexist.

If that were true, that would suggest to me that the show's producers had already identified Danny as a potentially capable dancer.

As I said, if true.....I sure they wouldn't' want to risk peeing her off again and give her Ed!

Well, it's more that it suggests the shows producers knew already that Danny was going to be a "bookie's favourite", long before anyone had even seen him dance.

I would have thought the producers have to find out about dance ability way before they decide who to pair - so yes, I concur

I've never found any decent sources for that statement of Oti's. One HuffPost blog, the wikipedia page and this messageboard don't cut it. I can't imagine her saying something that inflammatory and the tabloids not bringing it up at every possible opportunity for about five years afterwards.

I would point out that Anthony Ogogoo was really really bad last year.

I'm glad Otti has a decent partner this year. I like her.

One wonders if she really did say that was she aware that all of the pros have been given a duff dancer at some point or another.

And did she say that I cannot seem to find anything on it , I see Anthony Ogogo did say this which I found rather odd to be honest, does he think being partnered with her hampered him ?

http://metro.co.uk/2015/10/12/anthon...abuse-5434863/

Not long after the result saw him ousted from the contest, Ogogo admitted that he was ‘devastated’ to be the second out and has now followed up by saying his pairing with Mabuse surprised him.

He told The Sun: ‘I didn’t think that the BBC would put us together because we’re black or mixed race. I honestly thought they would spread the minorities around. I’m entering the show with the smallest fan base, I’m quite young, I’m not Jeremy Vine

As for spread the minorities around ????

Well this was the test wasn't it? If the voting was racist Ore would have been in the dance off tonight and he wasn't. Neither were Danny and Oti.

Agree.

The tabloids gave gone quiet proven wrong yet again, they just try to sell papers, they do not care if they make things up.
