Is Strictly voting a little bit racist?

Black people rarely win TV competitions in the UK. Yes, I know that some black contestants on Strictly have gone far, but they haven't won. On the X-Factor, there has only been one black winner, IIRC. On The Apprentice, there has only been one black winner. The GBBO, as far as I know, there hasn't been a black winner.

The only way racism could rear its ugly head is if you could vote for someone to leave rather than for who you want to stay.

Most people vote for the best dancers (none of the 4 in the dance offs were anywhere near the best) or their favourite. So if you are not very good/mediocre/average and don't have a folllowing, you are going to leave early.

Always an exception to the rule and sadly the 'beautiful' probably made a difference

So when does black become black?

It's ridiculous to think GBP voting because of their colour

Laura was also in the bottom two despite scoring less points than Tameka and she's whiter than white

So what was Louis Smith, then?

As for the Apprentice, there have been 11 series so far and a black candidate has won once. Given that the black population in the UK is less than 3%, that's actually above average in terms of winning statistics.

It is a sensitive subject.

I suspect stats may support the suggestion, but then stats can be misleading because there can be other confounding factors. It would be nice to be able to discuss the stats and the influencing factors objectively but I think it is difficult to do so as it is such an emotive subject.

Louis is not black. He is mixed race.

here we go again deja vu this was discussed last night somewhere on the forum.

As I said last night, I see myself as 'colour blind' I see human beings not the colour of their skin.

The first few weeks of Strictly is a popularity/personality contest, people vote for who entertain them, that's it, simple really.

What or who is liRC?. Are you referring to Alexandra Burke as the only black winner? Of course the fantastic JLS came 2nd.

What colour or race someone is doesn't matter to me at all, I look at the dancing and personality. Last night I voted for Will, Greg, Ore and Danny.

Oh, here we go again. Do you honestly think died in the wool racists make a distinction?

Of course they don't. They are all about white supremacy and if you are genuinely concerned about racism, you should get your facts right.

So do all these people calling racism think black , less black , nearly back , almost white people are all brilliant dancers then ?
Some black people are crap dancers just like some white people are crap dancers .

I suppose someone will say they were 'a little bit black.'

All rubbish. Actually, the more we look at this subject, the more I realise just how well represented black, mixed race and other ethnic origins are on television in relation to their percentage of the population.

I am a half wit, and that's never stopped me in life. I pushed through the glass ceiling. And went to Casualty.

'If I recall rightly', that's how I translate it.

Nadia, last year. Of the remaining 5 this year 40% are black.

I don't think for 1 second that racism has anything whatsoever to do with Melvin and Tameka going.

Melvin seemed a lovely guy but he isn't very well known (I didn't have a clue who he was or what he did) and he was a terrible dancer. I totally disagree with the way he went but if he and Anastacia had taken part in a dance off I am pretty sure the judges would have sent him home.

Naga and Ed are worse dancers than Tameka but Ed is very enteraning and is coming across as a nice person. Naga obviously has her fans or it could be people voting because they like Pasha.

It seems people either love or hate Tameka. Personally I couldn't stand her. Her attention seeking drove me made and I am glad she has gone. I think her antics caused a lot of people not to want to vote for her. Also, as others have said, she was in the middle of the leader board which is a dangerous position.

If Naga goes next week that would be three in a row I suspect SCD will make sure that does not happen.

'If I recall correctly'

I'm not saying that voters are racists but I do feel that black people don't tend to win TV competitions. I suppose that we should be grateful that we even have black or other ethnic contestants.

Precisely.
What name??

Of course the votings a bit racist. Racism exists in our society so it's bound to effect it. But it's just s dance competition so it's not that important in this case. It's just part of life.
