Is Strictly voting a little bit racist?

I think it is you who are missing the point! I hope it doesn't come as too much of a shock, but most voters are actually voting on what they see on the screen of a dancing programme, not working out their statistics. The BBC do the right thing in ensuring that all races are represented in participatory programmes. They cannot legislate for either the non-whites or the whites to be wonderful dancers which is where choice comes in to it.

My favourite dancer is far and away Oti. Not because she's black or half-black or mixed whatever, but because she is a fabulous dancer, looks amazing and has a warmth that jumps out on screen.

You might just as well turn this argument on its head and ask why black people are so rubbish at Strictly? All of us (racists) have been far too polite to ask the question but I don't see why it should always be laid at the door of the viewers.

I thought Danny was the best so far and a good prospect for winning or at least the final, but with a black partner it looks as if he has only 2 weeks left.

However if he makes the final or semi, does that mean the SCD voters are engaging in positive discrimination by keeping the pair in, or are votes being cast on ability/performance rather than ethnic origin?

Let us see.

Do you really believe that or are you just being provocative? I think you know the answer to your quesdtion.

1. Just as I am entitled to offer a rebuttal to a post that implies that they have not read my acknowledgement of the mixed race Dixon's success.
2. Completely disagree. The fact that some mixed race people have done well does not mean racism doesn't exist in the voting. But like I said in my original post I could be wrong and it is just my opinion

hmmm three years in a row the Top Male was black or mixed race.
Natalie didn't win... just like many good white dancers haven't, Pixie Lott has one of the best averages of all time and didn't even make the final. Denise Van Outen, and others have not won. Laura is in the bottom2 on week 2 when she is not even close to the worse.

There was an element of sarcasm about the ridiculous idea that everyone is voting for anyone but black. Danny and his black partner are certs for the last 5, which blows a torpedo through the whole racism in voting argument.

Well said, Stash. But I don't think those calling us racists are going to let a few facts stand in the way of their provocation!

I agree it doesn't necessarily prove racism doesn't exist but based on the last two eliminations on Strictly, I can not see that being any evidence that it DOES. Surely it is more unjust that Laura was bottom 2 when she has been getting good scores so far. Melvyn was the worse dancer, only second to Ed. Tameka was ok but far from the best. As has been stated many other black or mixed race dancer have done very well.

It's also saying Tameka is fuming that she was not given exemption from the dance off because she had several injuries. They have opened a can of worms over that refusal to do the dance off.

We can go back and forth on this, but YOU keep missing the point. The highlighted quote expresses why you have no understanding.

Of course they don't. They are all about white supremacy and if you are genuinely concerned about racism, you should get your facts right.”

I get the feeling that there is quite a bit racism towards mixed race people from black people.

Black people are over-represented on Strictly this year, is that racism towards white people?

Wow. This is all getting v.complicated but it's an interesting thought. But you are, of course, right. Black people are over-represented. Those crying racist should be careful what they stir up.

And definitely Irish people. And what about disabled people who haven't been represented at all?

Are you implying that Tameka is not then? She may not be the world's most beautiful but she certainly isn't ugly.
