I'm guilty of a certain amount of cynicism when it comes to the OTT show of emotion. I would say though that Laura is very honest - she's admitted that as a result of working in the TV/entertainment world she has to be pretty tough and confident. I know we're all biased when it comes to our favourites (and I'm getting the message that you really don't like Laura Vic'smum!) but I think the emotions Laura has displayed are pretty sincere. No-one has had a start to the show like she has with all the negativity on social media from the over-investers in Giovanni's past love life and she really didn't deserve that IMO.

it was a tough one to call

salsa v tango

they both upped their game IMO and they were both better in the DO than on the saturday show

at the end of the day it was basically down to who the judges want to stay in the competition - its nothing to do with the dance off - we all know that

that is why PERSONALLY I would prefer the knocked out contestant to be based on viewer votes

You reckon? Before this year's SCD I'd never heard of the girl and, now that I've read who she is and what she does, I'm really very little the wiser.

I happen to like and regularly watch EastEnders, so of course I know who Tameka is but, apart from the seaside Charleston, she was really little more than a overdressed mannequin being tossed around by her professional partner. Of course she was going to be in the dance off and naturally she was the one to go!

The ringer.

Not such an issue any longer. The BBC and DVO really cocked up her year by giving all those ridiculous excuses. SCD is full of ringers these days. Now no one makes silly excuses. The BBC don't seem to care any more and neither do I.

Thanks DVO. How's the post SCD career going?

I think it was a very hard call - it would have been interesting if it had been Tameka and Naga in the DO to compare their tangos side by side, as it were.

Perhaps what swung it for Laura in such a tight DO was that she was much more 'exposed' in her dance (and I don't just mean her costume!) but that she had to keep time while dancing on her own and use her body weight and core to help get herself in and out of lifts, which arguably are trickier skills for a non-dancer than being in hold. Or perhaps it was simply the judges being influenced by their perception of 'potential' (young, slim, reasonably fit - i.e. possessing a typical 'dancer's body') despite the fine words about judging the dance on the night.

I'm sorry to see Tameka go as I enjoyed her Charleston last week BUT I think she was always destined to be better at the 'character' dances than the straight (such as it is on SCD) ballroom/Latin and having done paso, Charleston and tango, they were coming to an end.

Incidentally I hadn't heard of either of them before Strictly, because I don't watch soaps or IACGMOOH, so I dispute Laura being a 'big name signing'. She has apparently generated a lot of Twitter traffic thanks to the Gio - Laura - Georgia 'love triangle' but that's hardly the same as being a big name beforehand.

It may have been predictable who was going home but Laura and Tameka being in the bottom 2 was a shock, to me anyway.

The same with Anastacia last week.

So as far as that goes, glad it's not predictable so far.

Have to admit I thought the same!!

Where the OP gets that Laura was being 'dragged around the dancefloor' given that the routine wasn't really an 'in hold' thing I find totally baffling!!
I agreed with the judges' comments entirely, neither couple should have been in the DO but of the two Laura & Gio performed the better & gave the biggest improvement so deserved to go through!!

Er, isn't that what we post here?
AFWIW I agree with anybody who thought Laura was inferior to Tameka. In my opinion, like.

I agree - thought Tameka had improved the most in the DO.

I would have saved Tameka too. I didn't think much of Laura's salsa (although she wasn't so bad she should have been in the dance off IMO, but of course that's not really how it works).

Yes, I had the impression she was trying to implement what the judges had advised. I don't think Laura, however, got her arms and legs under control, they were sloppy and all over the place with no finesse. The DO version was simply a repetition of the main dance, like Gio had said to her, just do it like we did it.

Well, it seems that lot of other people thought it was the wrong decision too:
