New to Android need some tips please
So just got a Samsung Galaxy S7 after owning iphones for the last 5 years(love it so far).
I have some questions, I was looking for reminders apps but see in the reviews a lot of them people say they either fail to remind you or the alarm goes off at the wrong time. So I looked at the built in s planner and it seems to do everything I need in a reminders app, so how come people are downloading other third party reminders apps? Also I downloaded some pictures from my email account which were in my gallery, when I tried to assign one of them as a contact picture it came up with an error about the file not being there. Then I went to the gallery and all the pictures were there but if I clicked on one to make it full screen I got a blank page with a white icon as if the picture wasn't there? So I just restarted the phone then all the pictures I downloaded were gone? All that was left was two pictures which I'd taken with the phones camera? So I then downloaded the pictures again and it all seems OK now. Assigned the picture I wanted on the contacts and they all load full screen. Maybe I didn't download them properly onto the phone? Any other tips I should do like different keyboards etc? I know swift key is popular? Already changed themes too. Thanks |

Thanks Swift key is a really good keyboard, its been my main keyboard for about 3 years, also maybe look at a different launcher like nova launcher, a more simplistic look compared to samsung launcher but with tons of options to make it your own. Textra is another popular text messaging app. Google rewards app, for answering a few questions you get google play credit. |

You can also set reminders in google now, just type reminder then all the options will come up to set one.

I would second Nova Launcher as well (have used it for well over 3 years and love it as so much customisation like changing the number of icons on the screens and also effect you get when swiping between screens as well as being able to backup your settings/layout).

Anyone know how to adjust keyboard size when the phone is in landscape mode? If I go into settings on SwiftKey I can change the size but it only seems to change the keyboard size in portrait not landscape? So for example if I'm typing on this site in landscape the keyboard takes up well over half the screen, then you've got the web address bar at the top and I'm only left with a tiny gap to see what I'm typing? Any ideas of getting more space when the keyboard is in landscape?
As you can tell I'm a proper android noob! Thanks |

'Simple' (or in this case 'simpler') and 'simplistic' mean two different things, which is why we have two words. I know more and more people are getting it wrong and using 'simplistic' when they really should use 'simple', and I know that when a critical mass of people get it wrong, it will not longer be wrong. But, 'simplistic' is a good word which means something quite specific, and if it soon no longer means what it still means, we will either have to find a new word or we can no longer say something we still can by using the word 'simplistic'. |

This is hugely off-topic, but...
