The results show just seems to be mostly padding and tonight it was even more padded as there was only 1 guest performer. They should do it like BGT and cut the show to half an hour with one guest performance, like the olden days
Some versions don't have results show...they do a flash vote every week and results and sing off immediately after...I agree that results shows are way too long....1 minute in im already like HURRY UP....
I agree The Strictly Come dancing results show seems to fly by with just the right tension at the end, The X factor results seems to take forever it might be to do with all the adverts especially the extra one last night after the extra app vote,
I wish they would get rid of the group performance also as it does not do any of them any favours.

SCD is recorded, and everyone knows the result if you look for Strictly spoiler
At least Xfactor is actually live. Though I feel they could do with a second musical guest!

Of course there is padding in SCD, they could just tell you the result and do it in 10 mins, and that would be the end of it, not dance off.

I've never watched the whole strictly result show until last night and found it very drawn out
The problem is, because it is live, they need to get the audience in, the contestants dressed + made up, the judges helicoptered into studio etc etc - it would simply not be worth it to do all this for 30 mins. Strictly can do the results show much tighter because it is filmed just after the main show. X Factor will never do that, because they want the phone lines open for 24 hours to make money...

They could do it like they used to do for series 1 to 5 and have the results show on the Saturday after the main show.
They should scrap the long voting numbers/recap part and the group performance. If I watch on demand I get through the episode within 20 minutes - less if I don't care for the guest singer. I'm not going to sit through 45 minutes of adverts and other crap for just 15 minutes of content that I actually care about.

The money they make from phone voting is negligible, and them making app voting free proves it. The reason it was spread over two nights was advertising money, XF used to be ITV's golden goose.

Holding the vote open as long as possible allows people who time shift to vote too. Money may be a motive, but increasing the number of people who feel like they are part of the decision is also part of it.

Don't disagree. I was just responding to a comment by a previous poster.
