Yes, he maybe signed to Motown records, but his style of music is not in any way Motown. It's rather disengenous to say it is, when there is a Motown theme.

I don't think they will allow that .. it's going to be the same 10 songs we have cleared...so new Motown songs are not eligible in a Motown theme...in any singing show that has this theme...

Err no. Motown as a theme is a style of music. All the other artists mentioned in that post are Motown in their music style.
who decides which acts on the label are allowed or not allowed ? the themes on the show have always been quite tenuous tbh and whilst i dont expect to hear anything but songs from the traditional motown acts it would be strange to say someone couldn't sing a song from the motown label on motown week the theme isn't motown between 1960 and 1980 |

![]() At least we're preparing ourselves for the 'what the theme means' arguments from the judges.

You pick on Ne Yo, who was signed to Motown when he released Let Me Love You, yet completely miss MC Hammer who has absolutely nothing to do with Motown other than sampling Rick James?

OK - Emily could sing My Guy by Mary Wells; just to suit the Louis Walsh's on here.
![]() From my original list, Please Mr. Postman by The Marvelettes would actually work well for Gifty (especially the Saturday's cover version). I'm not changing Honey G as anything which would work for her is a sample rather than straight cover anyway. |

Emily should sing a Supremes song. My first choice would be Back in My Arms Again, but that probably isn't well-known enough, so Where Did Our Love Go?
I would like Freddy to sing Stevie Wonder's Knocks Me off My Feet. |
